Hi all, Not been around for a while after trading my 749 in for a 2013 blade. However although the blade us a great bike, there is just something missing so i have started looking at Ducati again. Would love a 899 but still too expensive and been offered a std 1198 at Ducati Leeds with a very good px for the Blade and was just wondering if people made a similar move and their thoughts? 1198 is a 60 plate and totally standard but only got pics on internet to go by Cheers Dave
Has it got DTC and DQS? People were anticipating the launch of the Panigale. The later registered bikes were fitted with DTC and DQS to help the dealers shift them. May help your bargaining if it doesn't have it fitted. Personally I would go for the 1198S.
Hi chris, Did not realize that was cross over year, and did not know the QS and TC were added to shift them. Will ask dealer tomorrow. Prefer the red to the white but those cans will be nice. Whats the tank range like on these as i get 140 hard miles from the blade with a race can fitted Thanks Dave
Just looked through my map library and the 2011 registered bikes definitely got the DTC and DQS. A Sept 2010 onwards one might not have got it. My 1198S with Akras goes 110 miles to fuel light on.
Thanks chris will speak to them both however the px at leeds is very good, we shall see. Will be a hard decision, just nipped the blade up the road and it does sound and go very well. We shall see Dave
I saw the 1198 in Ducati Leeds a couple of days ago. Does look to be in mint condition. Didn't look too hard so can't be sure about the QS and tc. Nowt wrong with white BTW.
Chrisw says approx 110 which seems about right, I have had the 749's 848's Evo & SF 899 and now 1199 and they all spit out around the same mileage
I went from an 05 r1 to the an 1198 standard model. The duke is harder to ride as you need to think about what gear you are in and probably a lot stiffer as well. I have done a few 300 plus mile days and I think the comfort is pretty good, although you do need to stop much more often for fuel which is probably the. Most annoying this as you need to think about it after About 60 miles as there is only 20-30 left. I have gone to completely empty and it stopped after 107 miles. Love the noise and more than my previous couple of aprilia rsv miles. Much more power than the milles and now put 1 tooth smaller front sprocket it is a bit of an animal. Mine had warped brakes after 1400 miles as they are made of cheese so replaced them with braking wave 330mm and these are a big improvement. Oh and it looks bloody awesome parked anywhere and always draws a crowd compared to most jap stuff.
I have a 1098, not same bike as 1198 but v similar. You cant just hope on it and head into the city, it doesnt like traffic, gearing is v tall. I dont find the clutch too heavy either. Its a little heavy on juice, but it is what it is, a race bike with lights and mirrors. They are a pig to turn slow in my opinion and only make sense when pushing on. If you are gonna use it on the track or a second bike for fun, go for it.
i only get around 80-90 out of a tank on mine, i did mange 103 last year at a steady 130kmh in France, but was bricking it before the next fuel station!
