£1 For Poole Quay

Discussion in 'Rideouts & Events' started by Cream_Revenge, Mar 15, 2015.

  1. Morning

So I learned they now charge £1 to go to Poole quay on a Tuesday evening, or £7.50 annual pass, to cover marshalling costs with any surplus going to charity. Do any other meetings do this or is Poole quay special?

    Peace

  2. As rule I avoid "bike meet places" tend to be full of fat Hardly riders

  3. Poole Quay is big, basically and has charged for years.

To be honest this will be the first year where I am not bothering to get an armband. Its become repetitive to me now. I used to go every week but now realise most weeks its the same bikes, same people. If the weather is nice its packed and you can hardly get on the Quay. Last year we did long rides and ended up at the Quay which was better....

So this year we will be mostly doing a long ride on a tuesday and (assuming its still on) going to the 'Not the Poole Quay' meet over near cranborne on the Salisbury Road.

Will probably pop to the Quay a couple of times just not enough to warrant an armband...

  4. Where abouts Ozz. Any details?

  5. If you are travelling along Cranborne Road towards Cranborne and then turn left before reaching Cranborne that road takes you down to the Salisbury Road. If you turn right almost immediately there is an uphill with a funny little kink in it and on the left theres a small industrial estate thing. Its there. Heres the website:

Tuesday bike night, NOT Poole quay, Tuesdays 5pm, Burger van

  6. Aha someone mentioned this to me last year, will pop along one evening I think! I always go the opposite direction to Poole on tuesdays ;)

  7. I have not yet been but a couple of people I know went last year and said it was alright....

  8. cant think of anything more tedious than Poole quay, other than Boxhill, possibly ;)

  9. I went there once....

  10. Maybe once a year. Maybe not at all. It's only a bunch of old codgers getting cold, after all.

  11. its a good place to catch up with mates and have some fish and chips, once a year - maybe twice (didn't go last year at all)

now Hunters has stopped its bike night , which is a shame as another good place to catch up with mates and a good weekday ride out

  12. I'm not really a clubby sort of person, the whole point of biking for me is to get out on your own, so these meets don't really appeal too much. I'll get to the Ace caff and Box Hill once or twice a year at most.

  13. I'm the opposite, dont like riding alone there has to be a good, or quick, ride to get there

  14. also home of 'Feked'

  15. I can see it now, 175 pages of, 'who's up for a meet at Poole Quay', what have you started Bradders?
