The Pioneer Run for veterans takes place this year on 22 March. It starts at Tattenham Corner, Epsom Downs at 8am and proceeds the 47 miles to the Madeira Drive, Brighton. There are no Ducatis in it, obviously, but there are hundreds of interesting old contraptions dating from 1896 onwards. Lots of spectators also turn out on classics and specials for the day. Like last year, I am thinking of riding down to the Chalet Café (on the A281 a mile south of Cowfold, Sussex) by 8.30 or so, getting a fry-up breakfast, and watching the bikes go past. Afterwards might go down to Brighton, especially if the weather is good. Or maybe take the A272 westwards to Loomies. Anyone else tempted?
I think you'll find that Loomies has closed down Im afraid, shame as it was a nice ride and decent scoff.

Another option after the Pioneer is to head westwards into Kent, up to Maidstone, and meet up with the Kent DOC at Mickey's Diner for lunch: https://mickeysdiner.wordpress.com/contact-us/
the DOC GB Sussex branch has a meeting planned for that day, check out their fb page or on the club's forum for more details
that's where the branch meets (a meeting this Thursday evening!), it would depend on numbers if the Plough would be used for the meet on Sunday .....
I'll mention it at the meeting tonight, but we have noticed that it takes a while to get food at The Chalet when it's busy ....
