Eye Glasses

  1. I wear contacts for playing football. However, having worn glasses since I was 12, my mental image of myself is that I wear glasses, and I think I look odd without them. But if I were starting now...

  2. Very good points. I ride a Monster 1200S so I'm fairly upright. And yes I intend to carry my work glasses. I'd look a bit strange in management meetings with my wraps on :)

  3. Do you have an open face helmet? If you wear glasses inside a full face it doesnt matter what they look like as long as they fit in and are comfy. You can get steam resistant wipes are they tend to come to the right temperature after a while anyway so dont steam up.

On the other hand, if you want to buy a natty pair of glasses, dont let sensible suggestions stand it your way! We all like a little self gifting....so to speak :upyeah:

  4. I find it does make a difference in a full face. I use normal daily use wire framed Ray Ban specs at the moment but they don't sit correctly on my nose. Also I find the wind swirls around the lens when the visor is up hence I thing wraps will help. And yes I admit that I could live with it but a little self gifting is in order at the moment :)

  5. I wear specs for everyday use, but contact lenses when riding the bike, with a 'pair' of ballistic ICE eye protection which has interchangeable 'lenses' (dark, amber or clear......usually use the dark ones).......the side/ear pieces are a little bit thick, but after a few minutes in boiling water I moulded them so they would slip in through the helmet once it was on.

If I wear contact lenses for work or reading, I have to use reading glasses as well, which is damned annoying.

  6. Sorry for the delay, I was away in Italy & the frames in question were here at home. 'Keel Blades'

  7. Have a think about laser eye surgery! I had it about 9 years ago...best £2500 I have ever spent.. epi-lasik, they can even correct for imperfections in your retina so you get the best eyesight you could possibly have! Better than 20-20 vision.

  8. I'd love to have laser surgery but I'm really squeamish about my eyes. The prospect of my eyes burning makes me shudder. I'd need a general anaesthetic !

  9. As long as you don't go for the cheap version, which apparently feels like battery acid in your eyes for a few weeks, it is absolutely painless! You don't feel a thing during the surgery with the anesthetic eye drops and it only takes a few miutes for each eye. The worst thing is the smell of your burning eyeballs during the lasering! I had a little bit of grittiness for a few hours and that was it!

  10. Agh burning eyes! Battery acid. I'll have nightmares tonight now.

  11. LASIK is no good for people (like me) who's eyes are still slowly deteriorating. I have to wear specs when I ride. I have lots of thick black acetate styles with no problems at all.
