dropped my multi in for its first service and was told there was a recall notice on it for the front forks !! Apparently they have to do a visual check as some of them have been showing cracks in them :Wideyed: Mine is a 14 plate skyhook S touring
I thought that was for the earlier Ohlin forks and limited to certain batch numbers, or is this a new issue ?
Well mine is a skyhook and he said they had received a recall notice so they could check the forks, that's what he told me ??
Might it be due to the scratch on the left fork? I assume a lot of ppl are doing that under warranty and they probe are getting dealers to check em.
Thank's for the heads up about this KF, enquired about this today apparently it's for an inspection of the forks ? What for I'm not sure. This is the sort of stuff I think makes this site brilliant, oh! and the piss taking
Apparently the l/h fork seizes! Popped into my local dealer today, I have to drop mine in to be checked
Taking my '13 Skyhook S Touring in for yet more warranty issues next Thursday and dealer (GT Plymouth) told me there was also a recall on Skyhook forks they would check while I'm in (3hr round trip each time ), think he said it was to check the sag setting. Seem to remember someone on here commenting about a lot of Skyhooks having soft sag setting from factory, so maybe they've decided to run a check.
Hi All My GT is in today (GT Plymouth) to have new fork seals fitted! Left hand (near side) is leaking badly (bike is 16months old,5k miles). They have told me the rubbing cable on the fork leg is due to a bent bracket. This will be considered for change (fork leg)if the bike is less then 6months old without question but not if it's over that age, I pointed out that the rubbing was there at 6months!(GT are going to take photos and argue the case!) I would point out that it's not until you ride another bike (loan bike) that you really appreciate how we are spoilt with skyhoot sus.! Everthing you ride feels harsh by comparison, fact!(including the Ducati Scrambler!) Col C, pop in say hello, I'm Nr Saltash. Our friend at GT's is away at the moment testing the new Multi which obviously he is raving about. My initial thinking is until they produce a GT model I'll be sticking with what I have. VJ.
...ok, I apologies for my ignorance, how do you set up the preload as I don't normally tinker with suspension.
One fork leg has a large nut on it. Clockwise to make wide it in (make stiffer) (well normally, but I havent done mine)
Its not that, in fact if there is a problem the bike it will sit high as the gas cartridge might leak causing the fork to pressurise hence the front sitting taller don't think there has been many of them and just a check at service not a recall
Bradders, I know we can set preload (one of those rare owners that's actually read the owners manual ), and I have no complaints with how mine is set (plenty of complaints on other issues). I'm just pointing out that it appears that Ducati have presumably realised a number of bikes have gone out set incorrectly, hence the recall to check. Vj, don't think you'll find rubbing brake hose is anything to do with bent brackets, it's a common fault. I had fork leg replaced at about 1yr, then I put some VentureShield on to stop it recurring (otherwise it will). ...As will the misting clocks, they did last spring (didn't bother asking for replacement then) and again this spring, so getting dash replaced on Thursday, along with the fuel sender that stopped working the other week, the hazards software update (at last), and looking (AGAIN) at the centre-stand that wore through paint by rubbing against the cat (Ducati refusing to replace so far). ....Don't even mention the rusting brake disc bolts, black anodised silencer trim that went brown, centre stand rubber and starter switch that were all replaced last year. To add insult to injury Ducati are now insisting that the bike is inspected by dealer before entering a claim (like we want this hassle for the fun of it?), emailed photos are not acceptable. Each visit to my nearest dealer is a 3hr round trip.....not a happy bunny.
Thanks for the info bolds, I obviously jumped to the wrong conclusion. The service guy said they would check fork sag, did say was recall but probably just shorthand for "check at next service".
Not worried about forks Bradders, they seem fine, GT just said they'd do that while it's in for all the other warranty stuff. Need to get all that sorted before the annual Euro tour (and low fuel light on all the time IS bothering me). Besides, warranty runs out at next service:Arghh:. Love riding the bikes, but ownership is looking like too much hassle .
Hi Col Took my bike to GTs as stated last thursday only to be told on Saturday that nothing had been done as the bike forks needed to be tested for sag first....what a waste of time. I am now taking bike in again tomorrow to start again!!
