  1. Eek and thanks for the heads up.

We've some of the highest mileages here in the UK and Europe, yet we've never heard this reported.
To be fair we probably speed* and have to vary our throttle positions a fair bit more than your average yank.
Surely just a workshop notice just to check for wear?

*Speeding in the US is treated like Drink driving here.
I got done for just a few miles an hour over the national speed limit in the desert, 3 hour straight road.
    $18 for "wasting fossil fuel".

  2. It wasn't me officer...... It was the bike.

  3. Thanks for the heads up @Derek - it's been a while since I've had a recall and almost suffered withdrawal symptoms! ;) Good excuse to head back to the dealer for a run out on the DVT while their checking mine I reckon. :upyeah:

  4. That would be the case if the dealers had a DVT for you to try :). Phone them first or try a new 1299 Panigale instead !

  5. It says through to 2014 , I thought they was on fly by wire throttles ??

  6. Yes, they are. But cables still leave the handle bars, so i assume the transducer (volume control) is down in the bowels of the bike?

  7. The accelerator position sensors are mounted on the throttle bodies in the same housings as the electronic throttle valves. The cable operates the APSs which send a signal to the ECU which in turn opens the ETVs. For safety in case of failure there are two of each. Looks like they didn't reckon on the cables jamming though.

  9. Good point but you'd like to think the sole dealer on the island would have one...........? Best give them a call first!

  10. I will have to mention this to the dealer when taking mine in for the 1000k service, hope they let me take the hypermotard out for a bit while they work on the multi.

  11. Ah yes of course now I understand :(. Much in the same way that an "electronic pulse".. er thingy sends a message to the knee bone and the knee bone is connected to the thigh bone and the thigh bone is connected to the leg bone?

Some very technical wizards on here I must say. Way past my own very lowly set limits :Wacky:

  12. The throttle cable on my 2010 model has always felt slightly sticky, will be nice to get it sorted FOC - let's hope they start the recall in Europe soon before Summer's over!

  13. I spoke to Ducati Aylesbury and they have not heard of this recall as yet.

  14. Mine gets a bit rough and graunchy if exposed to a lot of wet weather riding, to a point where it can stay open and you have to positively roll it off. Normally fixed with a good spraying of silicone or similar. Be nice to get a new action (likely on a 5 year old bike?).

  15. I spoke to Arthur at Metropolis in Barnet today as as yet the news has not reached them. He just advised to wait for any notification to come from Ducati for the recall and if/when it arrives just give them a bell.

  16. I did mention to my dealer on Monday when I was there and they said no official notice regarding what it is our what the fix will be. As stated before they said wait for the notice of recall to arrive as it may not involve all bikes.

  17. Cheep !!
I was robbed of $180 in Hollywood for 68 mph. That's Hollywood Alabama not LA :)
The copper asked what the rush was. I don't think he understood when I said "if I had been in a rush it would have been double that speed"
Yanks ..... completely different sense of humour.

As for the recall ... same for me. My dealer has no info to date... it may filter through later though.

  18. It's official. Snells got a recall notice on Thursday. All multistrada need throttle inspected for fraying cable or nylon sleeve extending out of housing. Best case the housing is replaced. Worst case housing and cable replaced which takes 3 hours per bike !!!
