Fuel Pump Whats Going On Here Then

  1. been having an odd missfire , so lifted the tank up and found a wire hanging, maybe as a result of the accident I had yesterday!! anyway, bike wont start without wire pushed in. powers fuel pump.
there is a nest of wire with a fuse holder in the line. 2 spade connectors plug in . I presume they plug into relay, is there a propper relay missing that would cause a miss fire if not there?
bike seems to run ok at higher revs/speeds but misses at low to mid.

  2. I wonder if someone has had an alarm fitted and removed. What bike is it?

  3. Yep looks like alarm or immobilizer has been fitted at some point, not too good either by the looks of it.
I'd suggest either removing totally or soldering the joints.

  4. its a 750 supersport 2001, looks like there was an alarm once as a led and couple of wires come from rear light area. looking at parts book should there be one or two relays , you can see the rubber housing and a Siemans plastic top one. is there one missing? as in post one, if I remove a terminal, the fuel pump dosnt work so bike wont start

  5. I am plucking up the courage to take mine out in the fog and wash it so I will have a look then

  8. It is the fuel pump relay. It looks like they put a 3 pin one in and used the alarm to drive the other two pins. I would just put in a 5 pin as per the link above and you are good to go

  9. ok ta Nobbi, Ive had another look, by the looks of it there is room for two half width relays, (compared with your pic) one side has the relay (4 pin) in, the other side two slots are being used just in a loop with the fuse.

total 10 slots, so I dont think it can be just one 5 pin relay.
first worry all the wire coiled around , fire risk?
second , does it need to be fused or can it just be a jumper?
third , is it just two pins used or would some thing else not be working properly?

  10. pic with one relay removed, would Ducati use BMW relay socket?

  11. Pulled up the workshop manual and it shows two relays and it states "relays" elsewhere. If someone has removed a relay then the full load could be running on a switched circuit rather than straight from the battery.

I cannot find the part listed to find a number though

  12. I am guessing no. Can you see the bottom to see if it has been messed with?
