848 R1/r6 Throttle Tube Question

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Hoggyjay, Apr 19, 2015.

  1. What year of Yamaha throttle tube can I fit to my 848 Evo? I know the R6 requires removing plastic from the housing. I just can't pin down what year to buy.

    Cheers

  2. Part number
    4YR-26240-02-00

  3. Is that the R6 or R1. I'll phone the Yamaha dealer on Monday.

    Cheers

  4. R1. I have one fitted to my 999 and 1198. No mods required.

The R6 is 2co-26240-00-00 but requires a bit of Dremel work.

  5. What does this do, and is it worth doing?

  6. A cheap route to a quicker action throttle

    Well worth doing

  7. I did the R1 tube mod to my 848 and in my opinion it made no difference, I wouldn't bother. I ended up with the Accossato q/a throttle and that gave me what I was after.

  8. Th
The difference is worthwhile but not enormous. Another benefit is the removal of slack, so the throttle feels much more precise - on my 999 anyway.

  9. The stock throttle takes two movements to get from closed to wide open. With this cheap mod you achieve it in one movement.

  10. Fitted a R1 throttle tube at the weekend, simple job and makes a long action throttle long, normal.

  11. I also found it virtually eliminated free play, which I like. Did you find this too?
