I am planning on doing a service on my 98 748, Where is the best place to get the service parts on line? Thanks in advance
Oil and fuel filters from Opie Oils and belts from either a Ducati dealer if you want original or @Exige on here for Exactfit Belts. Steve
I know its an obvious answer but I found a few good deals on air and fuel filters on ebay, spark plugs were the cheapest there too, althow that was a 996 I think the parts should be the same or very similarly priced. Ducati wanted £110 for belts for my 2001 996, im still contemplating whether I want to pay that or go else where, plenty of belt options out there. If your removing the heads again ebay has head gaskets at half the cost of the DucatI ones and I believe are the Ducati oem manufacturer gaskets too. ( I'm still half way through my service, allow plenty of time ) Rich
@Exige and antoneye on here may be able to help with competitive prices but belt choice is entirely yours.
When I first got my 996 I called into ducati and bought all genuine bits. Fuel filter & o ring seals, oil filter, belts, spark plugs, air filters etc. etc. I even bought the oil from them too. Cost a fortune. Im in the middle of giving it another service atm and this time opted for the exactuk belts from exige which are miles cheaper but seem just as good (if not better), I bought the same oil (silkolene pro 4 10-40) from Opie Oil for £10 less than ducati. And went with a K&N oil filter instead. Incidentally, im having a total mare getting the old oil filter off, so I am hoping the K&N one with the nut welded on will make things easier next time. Last time It took a lot of hammering before the old one came off. This time, ive totally destroyed the oil filter (even though ive 4 different oil filter wrenches, including the correct sized wrench thing for it). Im now faced with having to some how try and chisel the flat end bit of metal which mates upto the bottom of the sump out. Im hoping I can make some sort of tool which can slot into the holes on it. Sigh. Already spent 2 hours on a 5 minute job....
