Have been waiting for want seems an eternity for a Driven 2nd for my 1198. I have been 'loaned' a Driven 2nd gear from a 1098R (race bike) that has less than 600 kms on it. Can this be used in the 1198 & more to the point, should I use it ???
From my understanding the 1st & 2nd gears in the 1098R & 1198 were the same. The difference came from 3rd gear and up the R's could carry the gears longer from 3rd upwards as the Bore & Stroke are different and the R is a derived Road/Race engine.
Check the parts list for both bikes (downloadable from Ducati.com) if they have the same part number, that's your answer. Andy
Thanks, 2008 is different part number for 1098R, 2009 1098R , 2009 1198 have same part number. Now to try & determine if gear I have is from 08 or 09 as I have heard from 09 was a little more robust ??
