Is Blueprinting Worthwhile For A Road Bike?

  1. I agree with everything Sev has stated, it'd be silly to disagree with someone who has experience at the highest levels of engine development. When I was racing Harleys 20 years ago, we bored and honed the cylinders with them torqued down, but not with heat as we didn't have the facility for that. The motors had to be stock so we tried everything we could for even one more HP. I even heard of a team in the States who fitted an additional electric oil pump to scavenge excess oil from the cases to avoid drag? I never saw it myself but it wouldn't surprise me that someone would try. I'd love a Tony Scott motor, just to have something built to that level, I have a nice watch which will have to do!

  4. @Mr.R , magnificent... simply magnificent. I work alongside engine people although not one myself, and I love talking to them. It's great speaking to people like them and you who are engine whisperers by any other name :)
