Just changing the rear tyre and could not get the exhaust off. The last person to change the tyre over tightened the pinch bolt on the holding ring and I was afraid it might snap and leave me stranded. Eventually managed to get the wheel off and change the tyre. I looked up the workshop manual but it does not give a part number for this holding ring only a number for "silencer". I would like to get a new one just in case.
Just had a look at the parts catalog and unfortunately it looks like its one of those things that cant be brought separately. Looks like youl have to just slap a full termi on instead
Had the same problem trying to get a front brake reservoir cap, have to buy the whole bottle :Banghead:
I guess you mean the ring that clamps the rear silencer to the cat section? Phone up your dealer and ask. They seem to have access to many parts which aren't listed individually in the parts list. Failing that any stainless exhaust clamp of the right size would do.
The ring isn't available separately. Had a few with the same issues. The clamp is spot welded to the silencer as it has a hook that locates the silencer correctly. I have used a clamp as mentioned above, but you do need to get he old one off. On the reservoir caps, they are available separately. Part no. 800068490
It hooks to the cat, as you rightly say, with a sort of bayonet-shaped slot which hooks over a peg on the catalyst outlet pipe. However that peg falls out and disappears, and you can manage quite well without it. So not to worry.
