Servicing In Newquay/cornwall

  1. Hi all,
Just joined this forum, so still very wet behind the ears. I'm riding a 1098 and find I only go out on her now and again as not found like minded people to ride out with. The other reason for joining is that I need my DUC servicing also I have a chain that needs replacing and the dreaded belts will need to be done soon. Normally I have new map bikes and swop them before I have to start paying for services, but this baby is for keeps. So I went to Dameralls at Indian Queens and the fella was the most unhelpful bloke I have the miss fortune to meet in a bike shop. I thought I'd walked in to Vospers as I asked could they service my bike and do they a single sided stand for her. Reply " don't know" can you do the chain "not sure", in that case I'll go else where. So if anyone has had a better experience in a garage or just a fella who loves fixing DUC' s at home I would appreciate a reply please. Like I said I'm new to this so please be gentle.

  2. Normally have new Japanese bikes.

  3. Do your own servicing!
Oil and filter change is dead easy. Cam belts look complicated but are perfectly doable for someone with half a brain. @Exige will supply you with belts st a very good price.
A chain shouldn't be rocket science but Protyre in Exeter will do a chain and sprocket change - is there one near you, Truro perhaps ? Any bike dealer can do a chain ...

  4. alright Dave :)

  5. G.T motorcycles in Plymouth are ducati main dealers and well able to do your work.

  6. A Bootneck asking to be treated gently? ;) I'm from the area (London now) and have some bike facebook contacts down there so can ask around for you if you want. I dont know of any Ducati specific people as there are not so many of them in Kernow but should be able to find a trusted garage.
Single sided swing paddock stands are easy to get online (try a search on here for recommendations). It's worth learning to do as much of the servicing as you can yourself but it does get frustrating making mistakes on your pride and joy.

  7. Hello and welcome to the mad house which is due a service :)
