Any of you folks with the DVT bikes noted any improvement in terms of tank range and MPG? Also, has anyone tried fitting the 2010-2014 top box adapter plate and struts to the 2015? Been told to expect mine in about 2 x weeks, apparently its on the production line now. fingers crossed.
The DVT's grab rails do not have any lugs to screw the plate onto. My dealer is gonna try to lash it on for the time being while waiting for the Givi rack/plate to become available.
I've been told the 10-14 top box won't fit the DVT. I'm gonna be pissed if this is the case. I'll duck tape it on if have too
I can see that the adapted plate would probably be different but surely the old top box would go onto a new plate ???
Yes. The boxes are all givi monokey types. U can use the box. Better as the current ones are not coloured. But the rack/plate is not available separately yet.
I was kind of hoping the old baseplate and support struts could be adapted to fit, sounds like I may have to try and get my hands on the new fitting kit., same problem with my Trax panniers.
Simples, keep the old plate and drill some holes in it that line up with some holes the new plate. Get some long threaded bar, some bolts... Temporary job done.
Anyone in West London who wants threaded bar 8mm or 10mm and nuts...get in touch...mates rates....not B n Q prices. I use it by the Shed load. Nuts are about 10-20p (i'll look it up and correct later) and bar is under £1/m.... and i've got the tools to cut it.
Well, my original question was about MPG and tank range, then whilst typing I had a brain fart and included the top box question, I suppose It should have been a separate thread. Funnily enough the top box has generated some chat where the MPG has not. The reason for the MPG question is based on the fact that when out and about with my GS WC riding mates they consistently get about £2.00 per tank less consumption than me even though the on board computer shows similar MPG. If anyone has a photo of the DVT top box fitting kit installed I would appreciate a look as I intend to modify my old kit to fit the new bike when I get it.
Funny thing for me, I find when laden with panniers, top box and roll bag I get the best MPG. Perhaps when touring I ride more sensibly.
Looking forward to mileage ranges & topbox range & full pannier range, all with hooning/steady riding variables.
