Well it's that time of year again and my renewal has just dropped through the letterbox. My 899 last year cost the same as my Blade did ( No charge when I changed ) at £120 fully comp, protected with a £400 excess. This was using a broker ( Cornmarket ) who I have been with for years and through KGM Insurance. They say that KGM are not taking out any further policies so they have offered me an alternative through Ageas but they want £180 this year with a £500 excess, that is a 50% increase from last year. No doubt if I ring them up they will miraculously be able to reduce it but before I try the comparison sites I was wondering what price others are paying for their 899 ? There was a thread somewhere on the forum comparing different companies but I have searched and cannot find it, not any recent ones anyway. Some say MCE are ok now but not Bennetts or maybe the other way around. None of them are great if you ask around !
Sounds ok to me! I'm with MCE for the 1199S. I live in one of the safest postcodes in the country my bike is kept in a locked garage in an enclosed courtyard with gates and cctv. I'm 40, been riding for 7 years with full ncb and no points although I have 6 historic points from between 4-5 years ago still on my insurance declaration (for making good forward progress!)and I pay £500 fully comp. MCE were the cheapest although I'm not saying they're the best. The problem with insurance companies is that you don't know how good they are till you need to claim from them.
I'm paying £230 on an 899. Curious on the gap between the 8 & 11/12 as this will likely be my next bike.
Im paying just over £200 fully comp with 5 years no claims and protected. That has an excess of £500 if I remember correctly and I think it is with MCE (would need to check).
I'm paying 1k with a £500 excess on a 1199 .. Due to being off the bikes for 3 years .. Lost my NCB .. Again locked garage .. Alarmed .. Safe postcode ... MCE With 1 year NCB came down to £640 with a £200 excess .. So roll on next year
Ducati insurance were cheapest for me. 32, 4yrs ncb, bike in shed in safe area, £290. Carole Nash for runners up at £360, mist others silly prices.
Mine is £580 with MCE. Garaged in a decent postcode, I'm 29 with my massive 11 points declared and 2 years NCB.
Ones bing I can catabolic ally say is DONT use Grove and Dean Insurance. Absolutely atrocious an a bunch of scheisters!
11 points & riding a 899, you sure you've thought this through pal? Chop it in for a scrambler - you'll never go fast enough to get pulled by Mr plod.
£299 through Ducati Insurance. Fully comp, 4yrs NCB & protected no claims. 899 with BikeTrac fitted. I'm 33 years old.
