1200 Extended Warranty To End

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Twin4me, Jan 22, 2015.

  1. Anyone heard anything about the new extended warranty product that dealers said would be coming out to replace the previous one

  2. So people...what happened?
    We are in March now.
What is the official line on a third year warranty for your under two year old duke?

  3. I'm picking up a new 1299 on Saturday and the dealer informs me that he cannot currently sell me an extended warranty for the 3rd year. I sure hope that come 23 months, I have the option of extending it to match the finance terms.

  4. You are one lucky Reevesey! Enjoy.:upyeah:

  5. Guys my Multi is 2 years old and despite getting a letter telling me I could extend into a third year for £175 from Ducati I cant get the Ducati warranty in line with the thread advice.

I have contacted Ducati customer services in Italy who just put me in touch with Ducati UK. They sent me an email which basically said not extended warranty due to financial services stuff. They didnt even mention a forthcoming replacement. I have started to tweet about it and am about to write to MCN and the likes, I suggest others do the same.

This situation is outrageous, I may have considered an alternative new bike if Id known the extended warranty would not be available.

Warranty direct will do a policy for £375 for 15 months which is OK but reading the small print, none of the skyhook sensors etc will be covered.

  6. I guess technically they are not obliged to offer any additional extension. I believe even the Ducati one was/is an underwritten insurance policy scheme. To be fair my dealer communicated out with notice that is was ending to allow anyone interested to get onboard before it ended, apparently not all dealers did.

  7. Riders told me not to panic, as a new one was in the pipeline and recommended me to wait, as the new one would be the same or better ?

  8. I was told exactly the same, new warranty will not be worse but could be better, gonna be a lot of people pissed off if there is no extension provided by ducati, does this sum up the faith they have in their product.....

When I purchased my bike I was also sold on the fact that a warranty extension was available when you are in the second year, mmmm I would guess that ducati would have to provide something as a lot of sales were probably made with the statement being made of a third year warranty being available.....

  9. As I understand it the great and glorious EU decided that warranty extensions are insurance and as such need to be taken out at time of bike purchase !!! Ducati have now ( April 2015 ) introduced 3rd year warrenty at time of purchase in the rest of Europe however that formidable guardian of our financial well being the good old FSA having failed miserably to avoid the meltdown, banking sharp practice and fat cat bonusses have decided that the offering cannot be offered in the UK ????? Ducati are looking at a workaround but no timescales and no position statement for those of us getting our bikes prior to the solution re backdating the warranty purchase.

  10. Same answer from Duke Glasgow. My PP warranty runs out end of month, bound to blow up June 1.... They have no idea when workaround will be available

  11. Duke Glasgow didn't let me know, but they did after 1 year try and sell me a 1 year extension then.....

  12. Did you take out policy with them? I've had one warranty claim on my PP and It was skyhook. Possibly one of the most common parts to go from dealer feedback when repaired...

Cost seems steep given cover versus Duke.

  13. I've just bought a new DVT and was chatting with my dealer. He said he had heard from the sales rep that Ducati are expecting to be able to start offering an extended warranty product again 'very, very soon'.

He said that they had hoped to announce it in time for the new bike registration but it was not ready. Rumour was also that they might also offer 2 extra years...

Nothing more that this... may just be rumours

  14. Two extra years would be most welcome (but would still be short of companies like Kia!) and, as long as that includes no-quibble cover for corrosion and components made of cheese, that would make a difference to my decision-making. I'm heavily leaning towards the KTM Super Duke GT right now, but KTM itself isn't exactly reknowned for durability of finishes and their solo dealer in Scotland has a decidedly more mixed reputation - they don't get half as good reports as Ducati Glasgow. And what is it with motorcycle manufacturers who have but a single dealer in a country of 5.5 million people?

  15. :innocent: I've been into Riders most of the day, having a couple of low level warranty issues dealt with as well as..... a full Termignioni system :)upyeah::upyeah::upyeah:) fitted and while I was in there I spoke with Mike on the service desk about warranty extension. As Riders in Bristol currently understand the situation, there are no, NO clarifications regarding warranty being moved beyond the present two years......BUT!!:Bawling:
As to the termi set-up, one word, "WOW", what an incredible difference to what was already a tremendous bike, my 2014: 15 Plate PP. The fueling is totally smooth and the bark from the end can is superb, always able to be heard whenever changing gear and the drone is addictive. Even though I say it myself, what a great decision :Hungry::Kiss:

  16. Definitely need a recording of this, thinking about going for a leo vince decat with termi stubby, be interested in hearing this..

  17. My advice is don't go the Leo Vince/stubby route it's just too loud! The Termi route is much better. Just my option and I have had both options!

Unfortunately the Termi route is very expensive!

  18. :Banghead: As I've got absolutely NO IDEA whatsoever how to do this, I think you'll be disappointed....sorry!
I've just been out to clean the road salt off the bike, a precaution even though I use ACF50 religiously and having done this I started the bike to finish the drying process off.
All I can say is 'music to my ears' :Jawdrop: :punch:. On run-over it spits back at you so don't travel too close is all I can suggest :confuse:

  19. You're a law breaking rebel Tony!

  20. My 990 SMR Ktm was bulletproof. That whole 950/990 range was.
