After swapping the standard 899 steel tank to a 1199 ali tank that also included fitting the 1199 lightweight ali rear subframe,i am not happy with the results but the look is slowly growing on me,i still think i like the standard red tank with the white ducati decal,i cant put the 899 steel tank back on because its not compatible with the subframe (i think),so question is have i gone a step to far and should i revert to a standard red tank.
love the 1199 tank but my opinion is the 899 tank looks better , but i tend not to change the way bike came from the factory stunning bike though
I am baffled as to why people spend not inconsiderable amounts of money on a cracking bike like a 899 and then feel the need to mess with it. In what way is it "better". But it is your bike and you can do what you like with it.
I am of the same opinion,the guy i purchased the tank from has a 1199 tank with white decals and has kindly offered to do a deal,just wanted to make sure i was not being to hasty.
One thing is for sure, you need to put up a fence or get your neighbour to paint the garage door and surround. That wood is going to rot for sure.
Not understanding the "better" comment,agree the 899 is a cracking bike.i guess your the type of chap that has 7 pairs of socks,pants ,shirts,trousers and jackets all the same in your wardrobe ?
lol,i know where you are coming from,but he is a great young chap who lost his mother when he was 16,took his step dad to court and won the case and got his moms house,he puts in 60+ hours a week to make ends meet,i have a lot of respect for such a young lad (now 19)struggling with a mortgage at such a young age.
Your bike is stunning! Notice you have a Ohlins TTX. Was it originally from a 1199 and been converted with manual adjusters? I ask because i got hold of a 1199 TTX shock and iam having it converted. Dont know what the cost will be as yet. Has it made much of an improvement over stock shock??
Tell him to rent all the rooms out and live in the shed until things get better.... I had a mortgage at 17 (said I was 18 and they never checked) and the interest rates then were crippling.
Mines a ttx du339p specifically for the 899,only had the standard shock on for a couple of weeks as i could not get it spung for my weight,have been very impressed with the ride quality,i think the standard 1199 ohlins has the same body and once revalved it will be pretty much the same as the ttx,thinking of doing the same with some 1199 ohlins forks.
I aint telling him that,feck knows who he will let the rooms out to,the less people see in my garage the better.In a total coincidence i was out riding with my mate and a couple of his mates who i have never met before,one of them turned out to be my neighbours boss and he told me he has my just promoted him, so all being well he might have some time and extra cash to sort things out.
I don't think the tank works, the aluminium clashes too much with the white fairings go back to a red tank
Get you seat hump painted brushed aluminium and it will look better...it will give you the silver front to rear.
Still not convinced on the ali on the tank,not sure on the black decal on tank and white on fairing,should be stated i purchased tank like this and wont be getting repainted but i can get my hands on a standard red tank with white decal,that is the way forward ? or i could put my standard red side panels on.
