Hi guys, because i don`t have my Pani 899 already i have to ask you for the diameter of the "exhaust pipe bow" under the seat. I want to organize some heat protect band and some clamps to fix it! By the way, do you think that there is enough room between pipe and OEM plastic heat shield? Thanks
Out of curiosity, have you ridden the 899 yet? I only ask because I was worried about the heat under the seat and looked at things like ceramic coating and such but once I'd gotten the bike and been through traffic and slow bits a few times I really didn't see the need to do anything to the underseat section? Yes the seat gets a little warm but it's never been uncomfortable for me, I don't know if they changed the heat shield design or something from he earlier bikes that most people seem to report as having a very hot seat?
Yes, i`have ridden a 899 at the beginning of May and there are not the temperatures which we have in summer. By the way, do you know the diameter?
And you found that the seat was getting too hot even then? Wow, I just never noticed it getting that hot... I don't know off the top of my head I'm afraid but may be able to give you an estimate when I get home if no one else had told you by then.
Sorry, never managed to measure last night as I had other things come up... I'll try again for you tonight.
No problem, at first i´ll wait. To your question, i fear that in summer this could truly be a problem. I also have a KTM 1190 Adv and at the moment the heat of that bike is no problem. But in summer, possibly stop and go, you know what heat is:Wideyed:. Believing to some postings in different forums also the heat band seems not to be the true solution.I will see. Ciao
Alright, managed to give the pipe a quick measure for you. Just a very rough tape measurement but seems to be approximately 55mm diameter. As for the distance to the heat shield, I think that it's quite close, just a handful of millimetres and it could be very tight with wrap on it, if not touching. Hope that all helps a bit!
Don't know... I've done it to a few cars and never had a problem. Not done it with a bike before though!
