Hi guys, i have searching for hours but i did not find an answer. Did anybody install the Termi slip ons himself or watched the installation live. In the Termi installation paper is only removed the exhaust valve motor whereas in a Youtube installation video on a 1199 also the flapper valve is removed. Does anybody of you 899 Termi user can explain if this is necessary on a 899 and when YES - Why?? Thanks
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but the flapper section is usually only removed when installing a full system I believe. If it's just the slip ons then it stays in but is essentially deactivated with the up map and stay fully open all the time. Again, just what I seem to remember and I'm sure someone can correct me if they know better.
The flapper is in the exhaust section before the 'Y' pipe. You dont remove the flapper but you do remove the servo mechanism. Easy to do. The flapper then is fixed in the open position.
Yeah I'm pretty sure that's what Chris was saying. As far as I've managed to work out its only if you get a full system it deletes the flapper but the up map covers the error codes I believe.
Yes,remove the whole servo motor and cables, remember on the 899 you have go get the dealer to activate the upmap.
I don't know if it's the same with the slip ons but disconnecting the cable to the flapper to leave it fully open caused a flat spot at around 6-8k revs you could park a truck in with my bike. So I assume the up map sorts this as well...
The upmap would cure that. My Bike runs great with the slip ons and upmap. I got my slip on kit from ducatipartsonline from the netherlands. Great service and a few hundred quid cheaper than in the Uk.
Dont know where you heard that but the motor is definately removed. You even get a blanking cap for the wiring connector in the kit. The upmap will eliminate any error codes.
Thank you guys for helping, i was unsure about this flapper but now i think to be able to install my Termi by myself and let the upmap make the dealer. Ciao
On principle i am with you. The one thing is that - if i am able to- i like to "screw" myself at my bike for fun. The second thing is that dealer told about 3 hours and that means at least € 200,- and the third and worst is that i do not know when to get a target date. Ciao
