I am staying in Ventimiglia, Italy just over the border from Monaco where I am heading to today for the GP. I saw this pull into the car park and got chatting with the owner who explained it was a 916 SP3......smart looking bike but obviously well ridden judging by the fly splatter.
Similar spec to its cousin the 916sps I own.In fact with many similar mods they could be twins BOOM BOOM. Mines usually pretty dirty from use but took this one after garage had dropped it back to me.Nice to see the 916sp3 being well used.I think the later flat side fairings give em a cleaner look but im sure the purists will be spitting feathers.
I prefer the vented side fairings but if theyre getting used and someone is having fun then all good.
Was thinking it could turn into a good 'old slag new clothes' thread with members posting up pic of theres.I used to like the vented look until the 996R and then the even nicer 998R that removed vents in seat were released.
I saw this one in the same town but in slightly worse condition...the Italians all seemed to ride their bikes first and shine them up second. Not a bad approach to life
