It's Dangerous Out There

  1. I have just had two people try to kill me. The first overtook a line of cars coming towards me and the second pulled out from a lay-by on the left in front of me and did a U turn across me.

Fortunately I saw both developing and took action to avoid a crisis, but there are some idiots out there.

  2. yip, dont get involved someone else's accident.

  3. Have got to agree absolute. What bother's me more than anything is the younger generation on bikes that do not have the experience or survival quotient that is needed on today's roads. Scary indeed. Take care everyone.

  4. Good obs :upyeah:

  5. I've had a few people pull out of side roads in front of me lately. Two of them actually looking at me while they did it with wounded expressions, wondering why they were getting the evil eye for pulling out of a give way junction without looking.
I knew these junctions were coming up. Both were on fast straights and I was on the centre line, eyes peeled and brakes covered. I can never understand the point and squirt merchants who go straight-lining past these junctions with their nose on the tank to see how fast their 600s will go before the valves start bouncing. Apart from being a waste of tyres its playing Russian roulette.

  6. Riding home from work on Friday, I know the road really well, for some reason unknown to me, I heard myself saying take it easy around the next one. I backed off and round the corner, a car had pulled out and was side on to me in the middle of the road, driver looking out the side window with his mouth open. Someone was looking out for me.
Its a new house being built, but the entrance to it is on a tight corner. Not the drivers fault, just a mad entrance.
I've had van drivers wanting to beat the shit out of me while filtering, mobile users crossing white lines. Same road as above, cross roads junction, I always slow up at, this car pulled out in front of me, turned her head and stopped in the middle of the road. On a dual carriageway, A van undertook me, pulled beside me, and just turned right in front of me, both lanes full of traffic. That did get to me, it was heading home, rush hour.
Same dual carriageway, going round the roundabout, about to take left and on my right I seen a cars bonnet trying to take the same turn as me. The roundabout has 3 lanes, so I reckon he just thought I should have been in the other lane but that's not how the lanes work.
There are other examples these are the most recent.

  7. Couldnt agree more. Have some wanker on a CBR 600 y'day, older fella at least 50's I reckon, while I was in my 3.3t VAN cut across me several tomes, no indication, block me in the inside lane then try and brake check me in a roundabout.

I may have been a bit pissed off as my wife screamed at me as she thought I'd knocked him off at the roudnabout...

IF I'd have been driving aggressively thats life. I was cruising at excatly 70mph, keep left unless overtaking is my mantra so great lane discipline, meanwhile he was concentrating more on something on his dash and chopping about lanes. Then slowing down..then speeding up.

If I'm brutally honest, its as close as I've come to forcing a biker off the road and making him stop to ask what the fuck he's doing and what the fuck he wants to do next.

So yes. There are some dangers out there. And many are on two wheels

  8. Yeah well, it's a fact of life if you ride a bike. No amount of sanctimonious outrage will change it. We've all been guilty at some stage. Just hope that them and us learn a lesson and next time the situation comes up we all react differently

  9. Take a look at my post just now on the TT 2015 thread. Sobering stuff.
