Indy or GP? GP is stricter, 101dB normally?

 

I don't know about an 1199 but my 749 has trouble achieving 101dB unless I put the dB killers in.

 

My 848 with termis and no baffles would hit 102db on the nose. 102db was the limit when I was last there. The 1199's are supposedly a lot louder though, with larger diameter pipes so they sound worse at standstill when noise testing. Bung it in full rain mode with the engine turned on its lowest mode. That may help. Try a few things out on your phone with a decibel app first

Had to put db killers in 1098r last year and with clutch in and engine hot it sneaked through .
My mate's trick with his 1199 is to put it in rain mode it seems to do the job .

 

I think v twins are generally quieter than four cylinder high revving engines so my 999 with straight through race pipes went to 98 db - passed ! Cant imaging 1098 much different ....

 

My 1199 with termis and extended baffles measured 104 which was fine for the indy circuit which is 105db.

The limit on the GP circuit is 101 (static) which you wont pass. They might let you do a drive by test but I would give them a call as its a lot of coin to risk.

All going well with my bike repairs I should be there also Thursday. My 1098 standard pipes measure 100. Two weeks ago for gp circuit

 

I got through the driveby at Donnington with MSV last week with the 1199s and Termis. I suspect it will be more difficult at Brands Hatch though as they have more neighbor problems and do not have an airport next door, plus Donnington have a specific person dealing with noise now and she is switched on with what does and doesn't matter.

 

At Brands just go out in the first session and see if you get black flagged.
If you do go to get tested and hold the bike at an angle to aim the exhaust pipe exit not point at the ground.
If that fails put the baffles in and go again.

 

Attachment doesn't work but chuffed you had no problems. I can get booked in now! When you say you did a drive by , do you mean you were picked up for noise on the static and they said go out and do the drive by?
