Hi, Been riding bikes since I was 17, some.....cough....nearly 30 years ago.... Always hankered for a Ducati, an itch that needs scratching and after sitting on a multistrada and visiting the local dealer here in Lincoln, Italia Moto, I think - great guy called John, I believe it may be a reality sooner rather than later! Currently ride a Triumph street triple R and love it, but the knee cramp and slight back ache are proving that I can't beat old age, and need something a lot more comfortable without losing the 'fun' element of riding. Looked at and tried the GS, a big ugly lump of metal that surprisingly works well, but doesn't do it for me. Tried the TEX and although its got a great engine, by god its heavy - it also has the most uncomfortable standard seat ever devised by man, imho of course. So after all the waffle I have a test ride booked next Friday on a MTS and I'm looking forward it - if the sums work out and the price to change is acceptable, the itch may be scrathed! Thanks for reading, Neil.
Hi Neil and welcome to the forum, plenty of folk on here who will tell you to make the figures work and enjoy the Multi, it seems to be a much loved bike by those that have them, and desired by those of us who don't!!!!! Chris
Neil. if you have tried a GS the multi is like chalk and cheese compared with that, i did exactley the same thing when i got my multi, as others say once you get on one you will have a grin on your face !
I'd change the title of your first post if I were you Neil.........VERY LIKELY another one to the fold! Whilst you're waiting on that test ride have a browse around the Multistrada section of the forum ;-)
Took me all of 30 seconds of riding to fall in love with my 12 yro Monster. To say I was shocked by how well it handled and braked (this was a wet weather test ride btw) is an understatement. I can not believe it took me 20+ years of riding to find this out. You'll love it.
When i test rode the Multi it took me about as long to be convinced as the time it took me to get out of town and fine "sport" mode. That was it.
John @ Italia in Lincoln is a nice guy, really knowledgeable and has a genuine (not just sales) enthusiasm for Ducati's. You won't go far wrong with him. Parts chap upstairs is on the ball too. I always say hi when I go in the dribble over one of their Desmosedicis or order parts....
Thanks for the welcome guys, hope the weather stays good for Friday and I'll report back my initial thoughts. I also have another test ride on the TEX on Wednesday with a comfier seat and different screen (I'll see if that makes a difference!) My only worry is the MTS not working or going pop, if I'm honest as a few reliability issues always raise their head as some have commented on in the MTS section of the forum. I know sometimes its luck of the draw and a lot of MTS have been sold world wide, so it can skew the figures slightly. Still makes me ponder, after all its a 10k plus bike! One question to my learned friends - seen a non ABS version of the MTS on a 10 plate with 5k miles on - up for 9.8k at the dealer, good price or a little high? Thanks, Neil.
