Anyone rode both 1299s and 2015 1199r ? Purely for road riding dies the 1299 make a better road bike ? Thanks
I had the same dilema...but couldn't get a demo ride of either. I strongly suspect the 1299 will be the better road bike. Possibly the better track bike too for those who's surname isn't Davies or Fogarty. I also suspect that mostly that decision will come down to which one you want to open the garage and see sitting there - assuming the asking price isn't the deciding factor.
2015 R. It's an R. The 2014 R seemed a bit underwhelming but I believe the 2015 R is the bollocks. All R's are and will always be sought after for strong money. Don't fuck about, get the R. Good lad.
I had the same question and bought the 1299 S in April for 2 reasons: 1. It was available in April and the R's won't be available until much later 2. The S has anti-wheelie-control and the R doesn't and I think it's a good safety feature. I think the R looks nicer, but I solved that with a custom paint job, Akrapovic exhaust, and various CF pieces. See the attached photo.
@oldsportbiker terrific paint job! Reminds me of the TDF Blue on a few Ferraris. @SissyMc7 for road riding, both the 1299s and Panigale R (note- the 2015MY is not called the 1199R) are both overkill and not ideally suited. The 1299S will be more comfortable and the adaptive suspension helpful in addition to the slightly less edgy/peaky motor... But you're really asking which is better between a samurai sword or a surgeons scalpel to eat a steak. My next Ducati will be a Pani R, but that's only because I'm a sucker for homologation superbikes and the 2015 rules have ensured the 2015MY bikes are quite uncompromising.
Painted on. The color is from 2003 GM Corvette Electron Blue. The white and silver accents are helpful in making it work
Very nice oldsport but you need to sort out that OE plate hanger and those reflectors on the forks, they spoil the bikes looks.
I think the reflectors might be a legal requirement in the USA. I'm sorry but the colour does nothing for me. It looks like a top job but it's a bit too GSXR for my liking.
I agree. I just wouldn't want my panigale to look like a Suzuki or vise versa, but then I'm an obsessed purist!
