Hi folks, Im a total noobie when it comes to Ducatis. I'm a young 58 and have been around bikes since I was 16, but had neither owned or even ridden a Ducati until last Thursday. For the last 18 months I have been riding a Triumph Tiger 1050 Sport as my main bike and it has been faultless, clocking up 13500 miles and still looking like brand new. The bug to change bit at the NEC last year when I first saw the BMW S1000XR - I figured it was going to have to be the best road bike ever.... Then I rode one last Tuesday.....oh dear.....I've not had a inline four since my Fireblade in 2002 and to be honest I found it bland and boring. Yes, it's fast and the quickshifter is fun, but unless you are frightening yourself sh*tless, it's not entertaining enough or got enough character. ...the R1200GS LC I rode he same day is a massive leap over both my R1150GS and R1200S in terms of performance and refinement....good but no cigar. So I finished off riding the new KTM Super Adventure ----- WOW !!! what a stonking engine and overall riding package. If I just had to ride it I'd have one in a heartbeat... but...I'm a bit fickle and need to have something that is both fun to ride and doesn't look like Bella Emberg on a bad day.....looked like the Triumph was going to be a keeper. I rang Sheffield on Wednesday - the MTS was the last bike on my swap list...if I didn't like it, the hunt was over. Suffice to say I rode it Thursday and ordered a new one Friday -- says it all really... totally blown away... it has the handling, power, looks, rideability, in fact it's probably the best road bike I've ever ridden. So....it's with a leap of faith I enter the Ducati fold.... I just hope and pray that it's a long term joy and not a nightmare ... stay erect...... Dave H
Hello and welcome, now you did order a red one didn't you ? we all accept on the forum here that the red one's are faster
Im hoping to test ride both the XR & DVT in the next few weeks, but no plans to change before next year.
Welcome... from a former Tiger owner. Great bike, just a little bland I thought. Unexciting might describe it better. As I'm sure everyone knows, Ducs do occasionally have a `little moment`, but as I'm sure you are also aware, there are loads of loyal and committed owners. There is a very good reason for that. They are awesome. So awesome their little foibles are forgiven or ignored because that feeling of riding them, looking at them and fettling them far far outweighs any negatives. Enjoy ur new bike, it's a beauty. Bobby
Oh dear... Looks like I've already upset the purists... I've gone for the white..... I'll get me coat...
OK, your choice. If the day ever comes when you are trying to sell it, good luck with finding a buyer for a white one - you'll need it.

Or8 DH, I hope you weren't influenced by a fellow rider and Ducati fan who now only has a menial 2 x Hondas in his garage Don't worry mate, the cash from my 749S, 900FE and 748S is now burning a large Italian-sized hole in my breeches pocket and I'm on the hunt before the Great British summer disappears again. Erm...... I also prefer white, must be an age thing
Yes, think you're right about the colour, since being advised I'll never be able to sell it, I've been looking for a skip containing all the unwanted Black Diavels, Grey Senna reps and Yellow 748s etc.... Funny but I've not come across it yet....
