Pembroke Boy look on advrider.com and using their search box look for CE approved clothing Master list, started by ranmafam thread. 21 pages of help regarding good quality textile and leather gear. Haven't learnt how to copy URL using this tablet thing. Soz.
I've been looking at textile suits myself as I gear up for getting back on a bike after a few years. I can't stretch to a Rukka or similarly priced option, wish I could but it's just not feasible. I was taken by the RST Pro Series Adventure II as flagged up earlier in the thread but after spending an hour or so perusing the wares at P&H in Crawley yesterday afternoon I've settled on the Dainese D Dry Teren jacket and trousers. They're discontinued now so the retailers are discounting them and after really close inspection, whereas the RST gear is well made and has a huge amount of features, the Dainese kit is beautifully made and the quality of materials is far higher. To be fair, if the Dainese hadn't been discounted I'd probably have gone for the RST. With the discounting they've almost equalised price wise. The other factor for me was that I've got confidence in Dainese build quality having crash tested some of their leather kit on a track day. Doh!
I agree couple of years back I bought an RST suit for wet weather after years of destroying my HG Tuareg suit off road for 5 years all day everyday as a quad instructor. And two years use on the road commuting. The RST suit lasted 20 minutes of the first ride in the wet before wet arms and crutch. The HG suit never let any water in whatever or whenever. Road or off road
On the Klim Badlands I use the inside pockets for electronics, so they sit just behind the chest protector. I purchased mine to replace a Rukka Armas which while great in Winter is a little warm for the summer. I've been very impressed by the Klim, it's been totally waterproof (as I'd expect from Proshell) and the vents seem are well positioned.
Motoport, Motoport, Motoport. Custom made, indestructible. Read the 40 gazillion testimonials about crashes from people who would otherwise be pushing up daisies. Small company, and far away for you UK folks, but it is the shiznit.
+1 for Dainese, I bought the Carve Master jacket, Goretex liner and Mugello fabric which is stretchy and totally waterproof! Very comfortable!
Tried on a Dainese set, then a Rukka set. Had to have the Rukka. Crazy money though, so could only get the jacket and will have to save a month or two for the trousers!
After getting drenched with a set of Halvarssons, I decided to fork out n bought a set of Rukka Arma-S today. Lot of money and will see if they keep me dry tomorrow when I head up north to see my mother
My Halvarssons have never leaked and I have ridden through some biblical downpours. (I live in Wales!!)
Make sure the suit has Goretex Pro. This is bonded to the outer shell and stops it absorbing water thus becoming water logged, heavy and COLD. Additionally it makes the garment thinner. I have both the Klim Badlands, great in warm and wet weather, with 8 vents in the jacket and 6 in the trousers plus a Rukka Maxion that is great in cold weather and OK in warm weather. It is so waterproof you could snorkel in it, honest, I cannot tell a lie! The neck closure is brilliant.
I just got the RST adventure kit. 1000 miles in and really happy with it. Ventilation is excellent and thermal linings toasty warm. Can't go wrong for price I don't think.
Just had a 4 days in Europe wearing full Arma-S,temperature high of 30c. Whilst riding along I wasn't that hot with the vents and collar open. Stopping and starting through the towns, things started to get a little warm but happy enough, everyone else also had sweaty nadds! Bought a C3 Pro, wasn't sure about a modular, but loved it
New Badlands jacket has improved front vents for better 'air in'. My (so last year) Badlands 2 piece is doing a lovely job of keeping me cool in this tepid weather we're having. Still practising my 'funky chicken with broken wing dance' though, when trying to close the jackets 2 large vents at the back. Whilst still wearing said jacket!
