  1. I went from a k7 600 gixer to my 848 evo corse 2 and a half years ago and still on it, it was the right choice for me

  2. Guys, much appreciated for all your advice. Nice to hear decent opinions from owners. Definitely food for thought. I'l update with my new purchase as soon as I find it!

  3. evo or 1198, wouldn't go 1098 myself

  4. Interesting. whats the reason behind that mate?

  5. Seen too many go bump. 848s simply dont (that you hear much of) and 1198 2nd gen and sorted some of the teething issues out

  6. Ah, got ya. Thanks for that advice, that narrows it down then.

  7. Later 1098s appear more robust.
    Wouldn't touch a 07 :Nailbiting:

  8. I went from a cbr600rr to an 848 evo. Tried s1000rr, fireblade and 1199 panigale first.
Once I'd ridden the 848 there was no doubt it was the right bike for me. everyone is different though so try all of them and see what fits your needs best. I'm sure whatever you choose you won't be disappointed.

  9. I'd have thought the evo is best for real life riding. Personally, I reckon they are quick, but what do I know.

  10. I bought a 2007 1098 with 2k miles on it absolutely mint for 7k. Stunning and pretty good with nice set of boots and slash cut terms on it.

  11. I bought a 2011 848 evo a few weeks back. I was coming from a triumph scrambler so totally different for me. Was abit unsure if I step up to the power, but it was not daunting at all in the end.

Done 1000 miles so far and can say it's just awesome. Used it in the wet, dry in London (gets hot) and on country roads.

Still mighty pleased with it. I'm am wandering what a 1199 ,1098 are like, but I wouldn't have the confidence to step up without going to the 848 first, maybe just being a jelly, I've still got a long way to go before I feel i want more than the 848 power.

At the end of the day I knew I was buying a ducati superbike and they are special machines. Which ever one you go for it's a Ducati and everyone loves it

  12. Did you commute today Steve? I saw one today between Piccadilly & Hyde Park corner, parks up in a square near there.

  13. I do park up near Hyde park sometimes but don think I was that way today. I keep seeing a nice 899 parked in the bike bays at Hanover sqaure...it really bugs me as its there all the time rain or sun. They could put it in cavendish sqaure for free...a heated underground garage!

  14. I just sold a 2007 1098s as I purchased a 1098r, 1098s was a great bike, I never had any issues with it.

  15. Welcome matey.

The only in-line 4 I've ridden was my mates R6 and to be honest, it scared the bollocks off me. Way too smooth and never once felt safe on it. Just didn't speak to me.

I had (still do) an '02 748s and love the thing, got plenty torque, handles like a dream and is way better to look at - than the R6. I also have a modded 1198SP and it's a total monster and will kill me at any point if I let it (like any bike, but this takes the piss...) 100ft/lb + of torque really is a hand full.

My advice, is go for the 848 EVO. They're great bikes and will give you the ideal transition from the 600-4 to a meaty twin, without scaring the living daylights out of you. Here is a great write up on the 848 EVO. Ducati 848 Evo

Another option would be the 899. You have a nice amount of cash to have very small payments and after a couple of years of riding you can upgrade to the bigger bike. Ducati TriOptions Finance

PS, I don't work for Ducati, just another lover of their sport bikes.

    Safe riding.

  17. i went from zx10r to 1198, 600's are still a quick bike though, if it were me again id go 1198, absoulute blast to ride, dont get me wrong 848 great bike but i think you'd want more power after a while, the only problem is where do you go from an 1198??

  18. 1198 I have one and it's awesome. Again the powers in your right hand you don't have to use it but it's there if you want it. Also the 1198 is the very best of the trellis framed super bikes should only go up in value?

  19. Nope, 1098R is :p

  20. Can't argue with that. He only has £8.500 won't get a 1098R for that!
