Ok yes I don't think I have that rubber lol I need to order that I guess both my panniers on ebay they are new but didn't realise I need this part
And when you get the rubbers, better stick them in place with glue, or else they will soon disappear.
I drilled and cable tied mine. Safe in the knowledge they're never coming off and safe in the knowledge the Ducati is made of tough stuff as that aluminium was hard to drill through.
Just had a thought, I don't get many and some are quite poor but here goes. What do you do with your rubbers if your on tour and the panniers are full then ?
I'll bite, with a couple of suggestions: - trust that they'll stay where they are (presumably they've stayed there so far) - glue them into place - if you're not already on tour, and you have the time and the means, the drill-and-cable-tie approach sounds like an effective one - I'm at the office and my MTS is at home, but there might be enough room in the under-seat space to stash them.
But ExKat, surely, if you glued them on or drilled and cable tied them on, you wouldn't be able to put them in the panniers when your not using them ? :Happy: :Happy: :Happy:.
When the panniers are full I would put a pair of skiddies on each mount to free up space and put the rubbers in the pannier. Nobody in their right mind going to shift em. Simples.
guys all of you saying how bad are the panniers but i guess none of you saw the ktm 1190 panniers i guess ! the were a disaster ! ducati ones seems not too bad to me .
My experience (see 1200 - Luggage Mount Failure | Ducati Forum is that the rear lug is weak... the dealer broke mine, then I broke the replacement on first removal. Cable ties are a good idea (pete1950 - I think its pretty obvious to most of us why!... and why do you use Times New Roman? It is the font of no style:Watching. The problem doesn't spoil the bike, but it does beg the question why the weakness wasn't spotted. My dealer has been very helpful and I have every confidence that Ducati will sort it (thank you DMC Moto). After 20 years of Honda design excellence I'm disappointed... but not put off... Love my DVT!
No, it is not at all obvious. Gluing the rubbers on is obviously a good idea; using cable ties is a rather crude, messy-looking way of doing it. Obviously.
I wonder how much time Ducati spent to develop the new DVT engine vs. probably a couple of minutes to design the pannier mounts! C'mon this is not rocket science is it? I think this is unacceptable for an expensive bike like the new Multi. Does anybody have a picture of the panniers from the back of the bike? What is the width? Thanks.
