2009 1098s - unusual shudder when pulling off from stationary

  1. Hi guys,

I bought a used 2009 1098s last month, 7k miles, full service history including belts/forks etc. just before I bought it. Having a blast.

Was wondering about a niggle on it - from stationary, as I pull off, there is a shudder/vibration from the front somewhere - lasts about 0.5 seconds.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  2. They all do that in first. Shove it second and rev the tits off it. Job jobbed :upyeah:

  3. Thanks - good to know!

  4. Sure it's not he clutch? May need cleaning

  5. Does it make an audible groan, sort of a whine? If so, then that's your clutch plates. I took my clutch apart last week to clear out all the dust and my friction plates were well down and my basket was knackered. My bike is around the 7k mark as well, so it will all be upgraded over the winter. Well worth getting it looked at

  6. My 1198s has done it from new. Sound is like front brake binding. Not worried, but can any technically superior beings out there explain? Is it the clutch?

  7. I know I'm a numpty when it comes to all things technical, but isn't it just the engine that shudders cos its a V2? Mine shudders like buggery till I get it up the revs.

  8. I had a strange shudder when pulled off once... Sorry, I'll get me coat...

  9. Try higher revs and slip the clutch more...if it still does it you might have a problem.

  10. Thanks for all the support and pointers.

On the ride in this morning the higher revs and slipping the clutch sorted it!

    +1 XxAnthxX
