Had a demo this week for half-day. I have a few niggles about the bike but doesn't everyone? However... As impressive as the new dashboard is I've noticed 3 (yep, three) considerable issues. 1, The scratches. This can be resolved with a Ducati 'screen protector'. Why should we scan the web for solutions (iPad, 3M et al) 2, The dash vibrates. Okay, it's rubber mounted but the left-had side vibrates vertically considerably more than the right-hand side. Mentioned to dealer, 'yep, they all do that'. Now there's a lot of information on this dashboard (in a thinner font than the Panigale too) so I can't read the info when accelerating from 3K-4K? That's all town riding input rendered useless! 3, Trip reset. Now I've already read lots about this so it didn't come as a surprise when it kept resetting. I put £15 in the tank at start of demo ride, fuel light on when returned bike 4hrs later. Haven't a bloody clue what miles I did, and that's the 1st time I've experienced that in over 30yrs of riding! I asked the dealer about this issue and I was told that they had contacted Ducati (as many owners had raised the issue) but they have yet to receive a response from HQ. This is quite a serious issue because IMO if it was a firmware fix I'm sure Ducati would have either a) fixed it already, b) have said the fix is in the pipeline. I'm starting to feel that this is a loom replacement/dash replacement... I hope I'm wrong. I'm starting to think I may withhold my purchase until this is resolved. I love Ducati but this does concern me somewhat.
1/ Screen only scratches if you touch it, why do you need to touch it? 2/ Dash does not vibrate if you remove the Wind Shield mine seems to vibrate a little less more miles you do, not sure the long term answer there, not even to sure Ducati are looking for an answer. it is only between about 3-4k if I recall 3/ Re-set Trip metre they know about and can only imagine there will be an ECU update, Mine has just had it's first service and the only update I was told was for the key fob Seriously if you are with holding your purchase over these minor items, then maybe you should not be buying the bike.
+1 on the scratches, mine has minor scratches but when the screen is on you don't see them, best left alone. Sorry no vibration on my dash. the trip is a software glitch it will be fixed one way or another. If these minor ailments are deal breakers walk away and good luck on your search for the the ultimate glitch free bike.
Who was the dealer? As they clearly don't take notice of any info from Ducati, I was shown this that was sent to dealers 2 weeks ago Just to inform you we are aware of the issue of the Trip resetting on the new MTS MY15 while in MPH units. The issue does not occur with the bike set in KPH so we understand that the problem is a software bug. A new SW version will be in testing from beginning of next week so if all goes according to plane we hope to have a dedicated software update ready for the middle of July. no vibrations on the one i borrowed -not a case of using too higher gear at low speed was it?
Software update on its way according to my dealer with meter fix and some other stuff. Also been reading here that Ducati is aware of the scratches and they will recall the display soon. Mine does not vibrates or at least I can't see\notice when it does!
Whenever I rode my Jota in the rain a couple of fuses would blow. At least that doesn't happen since Italian manufacturers stopped using home-grown electrics!
It's the cost of complexity and innovation. Manufacturers install the notion of adventure and great escape, but the reality is that your average person would never be able to support the bikes for travel outside the range of the dealer network.
But sometimes minor items are never addressed, all I'm trying to do is ascertain whether Ducati are going to do anything... I applaud any owner of new model bikes/cars/vans. Everything I've owned new has had recalls, it doesn't bother me at all. The DVTS has a dashboard with more information on it than any other machine, so you're bound to be looking at it more, so I feel it's important that it's robust/capable enough to do what is expected from an all weather, all year, 2-up mile-muncher
This is the news I was hoping for!!! My fear was that the fix was going to be more serious, like a loom swap or replacement dash. But the info about it working in KPH makes absolute sense, because everywhere it was tested wouldn't require setting the speed in MPH:Facepalm: The vibrating screen on the demo was exaggerated by high-gear roll-ons (around 3-4K). It wouldn't concern me but for the fact the left side is a lot worse. I think I'd be tempted to apply some Sikaflex behind it to calm it down!
Have a Diavel Carbon Red, fitted full Termi/ECU. Fuels perfect, like having a nuclear reactor between your legs. 1x ULTIMATE GLITCH-FREE BIKE. Have a 2nd hand Panigale 1199S Tricolore, fuels perfectly, feels like a nuclear-powered two-stroke. 2x ULTIMATE GLITCH-FREE BIKE. I've been spoiled rotten by two 'ultimate glitch-free' bikes Offered DVT full termi/up map at discount price, now that's a deal-breaker!
I have a feeling the tip on he DVT is going to be the same as the Hazard lights when turning left on the 2014 models. They will say their sorting a patch but never bring one out.
still interested to know which dealer seems to be oblivious to any info supplied to them..but maybe your location gives that away ?
Manchester, they said they'd sent info on behalf of their customer's concerns but didn't have any response from Ducati re trip resetting...
Now hold on here... My Belle cement mixer had the starter capacitor burn out. I ordered a replacement from RS, there were a few different makes I could have chosen, I went for DUCATI. This was my first ever Ducati purchase and it has lasted more than twice as long as the OE
Two glitch free bikes, you are a lucky man, If I were you I would definitely have a DVT just to make a superb trio in the garage. Must admit I would love a diavel as well as a DVT.
Interesting. I can't get mine to exhibit the trip resetting both tripmeters at the same time, I hear it only affects some bikes. Mines is a non S DVT, units set to MPH.
Is that the same Ducati Manchester who say there is no fix for the wonky fairing on another thread here...and there is...seems to be a theme here
