Evening all. A good friend has recently bought a '95 / '96 600 Monster, it had some issues with the clutch when he got it and he put that down to the lack of performance. However, now it's now got a new clutch in it, Slave and MC all fixed up it became apparent that actually, there was another problem, it was only running on the horizontal cylinder. Anyway, long story short, no spark to the vertical cylinder. We've eliminated the coil / HT leads, ignition units etc and swapped out the sub loom from power source. Additionally, the scabby sub loom from the alternator cover has been spliced and by-passed. Now running out of ideas, is there an obscure Italian reverse upside down thing we've missed? Any ideas welcomed, thanks in advance John
Yes, they do, check for 95/105 ohms and should be 0.6/8mm air gap if you take the alternator cover off.
Pickups do fail. They are quite pricey from Ducati as they only come in pairs. Electrex sell them separately and the work just fine. Bit of soldering is all that needed
Thanks all Aircon, yep, we've swapped everything over, I've got a 900SS in the garage undergoing rebuild so all the components tested etc. Will pass this on and report back with final diagnosis and fix
Thanks to Steve Bailey (Duc904Red) for sorting out a spare pick up We'll check everything is totally torqued up
I hope this is not your problem but my ST4S would only run on one cylinder when the ECU failed. If you have a spare of the same type it's worth a quick swap just to check it.
