Heading off to a two week trip to Italy at the end of next week. In the event of a breakdown is it better to phone the Ducati card number for assistance or the AA European breakdown? Not sure if I'm also covered by my insurance for breakdowns but is that the aim of the card or does it just get me into a tent at a race meet? Will Ducati send someone to try a fix before I use the AA recovery/repatriation should it be required? Ok I know this is a bit doomsday but "just in case" does the card give me breakdown service? My mate who owns a GS has very kindly given me the numbers of quite a few local breakdown services. He's a nice kind and considerate man isn't he . I know I know I know I won't need to phone anyone - other than my kind mate to tell him what a lovely time I'm having
Yes it's full euro cover. The card has the euro no to call and they simply pass you to the correct county's provider. Be warned: it's not as good as you would buy directly as it may only include upto 50kms tow and to dealer. I can't remember but worth a check.
numbers are in your handbook/pack I think you ring a different number when you are abroad (the actual country you are in has a specific number)
Tested my red card last year, blow out on rear tyre, totally un patchable. called the No on the card, got a lovely young lady fromFrance on the phone, within 2 minutes she had my exact location and dispatched the AA to try and fix the puncture. AA could do nothing with it and called the local recovery agent to pick me and the bike up, over 100 miles to home no problems. Getting back from Europe may be another matter.
Uncle used his on his 1098 years ago in Italy. Took them a couple of hours to arrive but the petrol station we'd stopped in served Peroni... Win! We all got recovered to a hotel. Next morning they came and took his bike, me following on mine (just in case he had to leave his bike overnight) to a workshop. After my uncle expressed his disgust at the grotty little husqi dealership, they drove him 30mins to a HUGE (3 floors, each about the size of a supermarket) Ducati dealers who fixed it for free and wished us the best of luck on our trip.
