Was planning to do a track day tomorrow, so pulled the bike out to give it a once over. Started the bike and could hear a "clacking noise" on back side of head. After close inspection I saw the exhaust where it meets the head has a hairline crack in it. When I saw this I immediatly contacted my local dealer. They were closing in 15 minutes, and the service manager was busy with a customer. They said he would call me back, but never did. So I'll have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to see if I can get it in and figure out if this is covered under warranty. Best picture I could get of it. Just to the left of the bracket weld. Barely visible when not running, but when running it is extremely visible and goes back farther.
Heres a short video of the noise and the crack in the exhaust. You'll notice in the video the crack opens more as the exhaust gets hotter. And a little better picture.
old thread, I know, but having the same problem, see pictures.. small crack developing in the pipe from the rear cylinder... makes a "clacking" sound at tick over, burns your finger when you stick it in there to see if it's blowing! JIMMYRAY - did you get your exhaust fixed? was it covered under warranty?
Blimey.. Looks the cracking on mine is developing round the flange, bikes running ok, but making some farting sounds and back firing more than usual. Its going for service on Monday, garage already have a heads up on the cracking, hopefully they'll have bits in to fix it.. Thanks for the pic,
I'll be getting mine replaced next week, I'll asks the techs at Ducati Manchester what they think and if they've seen it before... but here are two Termis that have failed in the same place with the same characteristics.. not sure if that makes it a common issue though... My exhaust was fitted my the techs before I picked it up and they tell me it will be covered with warranty, not sure if that would be the same if you picked up a Termi and fitted it yourself
