hi guys Looked at a 1199 last week and put a deposit down (private sale) went to pick it up today and test ride and broke down and had to push it back. I stalled it and the bike would not restart - the BBS light came on with fuel light and engine light. The bike would not restart after we left it. Is this a common fault? This will or would of been my first Ducati, I thought they had got over the reliability issues that they were renowned for! Think I may have to give this one a miss and look for another??? Cheers Jess
I've had three Ducatis, much older than an 1199 and never had to push one home. Presumably you did check it had fuel in it? With my 999, it is important to start it with zero throttle and zero choke and let the ecu sort it out.
hello. if it;s got nuts and bolts and wire and fuel anything is possible. but very few things are designed to brake down. keep looking.
Welcome. Had three Ducatis in the "infamous" 90`s. Never one problem. Whereas my low mileage "reliable" Honda firestorm blew up. Don`t let it put you off. Good luck.
And it may require thousands of pounds of replacement ECUs etc. BBS/Can-line Eros can be a myriad of things some easily fixed, some very expensive. Why take the chance? There's lots of Panigales out there for sale and with this being a private sale the buyer would have little support after the sale.
