Hi Just got a 2013 Pikes Peak & looking at getting some protection. I have had R & G crash bungs on bikes before and only have had the opportunity to see them in action on my wife's Monster 796 when she dropped it last year at 0mph. They did a great job of protecting everything along with bar end bungs. My question is do they stick out enough to give protection on the Multistrada or would I be better with crash bars? I changed to bars on my KTM 990 SMT as bungs looked like they would not give any protection. Recommendations gratefully received as there are several makes of bars/ bungs. I am also looking at the Evotech radiator/oil cooler/ head/ front down pipe protection. Cheers Greg
The Evotech stuff is much better made. During my brothers recent accident the R&G crash bungs snapped off on impact with the full force of the Ford Ka that hit him. We are still hoping to save the rest of the right leg, so R&G gets a No from this family.

Man thats tough, hope he gets thru it fella The bungs are designed to help while its sliding down the road tho, and they will bend or snap then too. And yes they stick out, thats the point
They broke off on impact. I've not yet had the motorcycle released from the police investigation team (nor has the young ladies car). Perhaps once I seen the rest of the bike I can give a more informed impression of their relative performance. May be the amount of force in this instance wasn't really why we have the bungs fitted.
