899 Dynojet Pcv Autotune

  1. hi has anyone tried the autotune kit that runs with the pcv? I've had a custom map done but they couldn't map the low down closed loop? So it's still a it flat feed back most welcomed

  2. I think you'll find that the words 'closed loop' are the definitive issue in this case. The ECU will always adjust the engine parameters to take into account whatever fiddling about you have been doing. Where it starts to go all wrong is when the internal parameters are breached beyond programmed limits. Essentially the adjustment hits a brick wall, leaving only any other parameters as yet not breached to take up the slack and keep the engine from either self immolation or limp-home-mode. I hope I'm not preaching to a development engineer, if so I apologise, but unlike all the primitive contraptions that let you get away with tinkering around the edges, the electronics controlling you current bike are vastly more sophisticated. There are only a small handful of people with the skills to reprogram your ECU to even come close to what Ducati have spent millions of Euros developing. The rest are just convincing bodgers, out to fleece the gullible. Get a proper set of Termi's or Acro's and the appropriate Up-Map update. The Up-Map is just a one use code to release an existing map update already waiting within your bike's ECU. You will get other mapping updates loaded at each service, just like your home computer, when ever better and neater software solutions are discovered by the boffins at Ducati.

  3. If you have gone the remap route why didn't they disable the Lamdas and make it an open loop system. The mapping could then have been tuned throughout the whole rev range.

  4. Umm all good points which I hadn't thought of, I've fitted a austin racing Incolone system and pcv doesn't have the facility to shut off the 1st lambs sensors to make it open loop as I am aware, although I maybe wrong and this is something I will look into, thanks for the advice I will start investing it, this is why I was thinking about auto tune

  5. Understand now. PCV custom map not ECU.
your money would have been better spent directly tuning the ECU.

  6. Tuning the ECU is always a preferred option, IF your local tuner can map it, otherwise like me you have a hard time to one, get the bookings and two, drive million miles to the dyno. Bike manufactures are governed by emissions laws, Ducati don't have secret "code" to get round it, that's what the closed loop is, the closed loop is an area of the Rev range that is tested and needs to meet emissions regulations, even Ducati have to meet this, the UP map will still never be right, no two engines are the same and twins are often even more fussy about AFR from one cylinder to the other, mapping by Autotune or dyno is the only way to get it right. Autotune is a great system, I've run it for years, has its place in the market and trims the AFR real time all year round, however the use of the word "auto" would lead you to think it's fully automatic, it's not and needs some setup and monitoring in the early stages of the install, unless your tuner has 160mph ram air it also maps that too, so top end AFR can end up bang on, in an ever changing environment the requirements of a motor always vary, however most of the time those changes are small, also some bikes have complex gear based closed loop that can not be just removed in those cases DJ have the O2 optimizer that retains the narrow lambdas, it then corrects those values to keep the AFR in range, it can be run with AT as I have done not so long back on a customer's ZZR, ended up with a fuel table for each gear plus one each for AT, the narrow lambda and a wide band for AT, it can get complex but your tuner should have knowledge of the system, however I find each bike a learning curve.

Not telling people how to suck eggs but just wanted to add a few facts. (not like Chris don't know any of what I have posted)

    :)

  8. The rexxer ecu flash is quality the bike is so much more responsive and feels like it revs quicker too
