1200 DVT Keyless Fuel Cap

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by trevd, Aug 10, 2015.

  1. Hi,

I like the idea of getting the Keyless fuel cap fitted, but have found a few threads on the forum saying that they fail to open at times, has this issue been sorted ?

    Regards
    Trev

  2. Yeah. No problem.

  3. I opted for the keyless cap for the DVT when I first ordered the bike about 3 months ago as I had it on my PP, no problems on the PP but still yet to have the keyless fitted to the DVT, apparently Ducati are having problems with it and wont release until its sorted....so probably never at this rate, I cant see what is different to the previous model keyless cap?

  4. Thats great thank for the info, hopefully they can sort it soon...

  5. Mine is the 2012 version and it has performed perfectly.
I wasn't aware of an issue with the DVT.

  6. They are probably putting all their efforts into a fuel gauge that works ;)

  7. Lol you are probably correct as mine has gone and should be fixed 24th Aug.....:(

  8. Yeah, that would be the perfect storm: - no fuel gauge, no trip, and you can't open the fuel cap once you've pushed to the garage. You'd just need a handsfree unit failure to make the day complete :)

  9. I am waiting for a date, at least Ducati are paying for the new sender unit, but I am left with the labour cost.

  10. The keyless fuel gauge is the same across all models. I have one since the first multi. Never more than a slight hiccup.

The most common cause of problem is operator error.

I have have had a few sessions when it was difficult to open. That is usually because the catch has been fouled by sticky fuel residue so it didn't spring out properly into a locked position. It therefore won't release when ignition goes off. A few taps on the cap sorts it. A clean with some WD40 will resolve it.

  11. Had keyless fuel flap since day one 2010MY

Never had an props, works without any issues

Wouldn't be without it now, love the practicality of no key

Should be fitted as standard in my mind to any bike with keyless start

  12. Do you have one fitted to the DVT as I was told the dealer wouldn't fit mine until Ducati gave assurance the "fix" was sorted. I loved mine in my PP and never had any issues with it.

  13. .
Riders Cardiff told me it's the same part number for the DVT I've ordered, as the 2013 it's fitted to. So if there is a problem it must be on the electrical side.
And to the point asked, I have not had any problem with it.
(Fingers crossed, touch wood and all that)

  14. thanks for the responses, i will ask the dealer about the fuel filler issue, although when i asked him if there was an issue with fuel level indication he told me he wasn't aware of any ?? appears many owners are having issues with it !!

  15. Snells told me the electric fuel filler for the DVT is a different part number from the 2010-14 MTS, but the difference is very slight and they are interchangeable. I transferred the one which I had been using from 2011 from the old bike to the MTS - it went on easily and works perfectly as before.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  16. Yep. That's the one from the 2013 model I part-exed for.

    No fix needed.

  17. Did it require a software tweak ?

  18. No tweaking of anything required

  19. No.

  20. It is the same as the 10 to 14 MTS but this part was upgraded in August 2014, this is the part that would have been ordered for the DVT.

My 2014 cap was faulty from day 1, it doesn't lock and the upgraded one has been on order for a year now although they (Ducati) are promising me it will be here anytime soon (and have been saying this since last Sept:)

Snell's as always have been very good about it but can't help until Ducati sort themselves out.

    Just saying like
