Accessories socket

  1. Hi there,

Thinking of adding a power socket to my 999. Idealy don't want to be splicing into wires so was wondering if there were any redundant sockets on the wiring loom?

    Cheers

  2. Thought of doing this myself. So far all I've come up with is a couple of extra wires to the battery terminals plus an in-line fuse, but then I have much electrical numptiness in my DNA.

I await info on this thread with great interest

  3. I know that some bikes have a spare factory socket for one thing or another. I vaguely remember someone pointing one out but can't remember what it was on and whether it was a 999.

I already have a charger cable attached to the batter that I'd rather not add to. I guess I could add a splitter to that and switch between the two as its not like I charge the bike whilst riding, but still less than ideal.

  4. Loz,

Found one, just sat there right in front of me on the RHS of the frame!

Tested with a 12V bulb with ignition on and off and can confirm that it is connected via ignition so wont drain the battery if you leave them turned on. Ill give it a go and feed back.

  5. Is your charger connection an Optimate? If it is why don't you just buy the optimate connector.

  6. I don't want to do that in case I leave them switched on and turn the bike off. Since there's a spare 12v connector I'll use that.

  7. Thanks Matt!

  8. Out of interest, would a tomtom power from that feed and would it need an inline fuse between the tomtom and the outlet? If not, would a better feed be the parking light so it turns on / off with the ignition?
