New Member And Owner Of 1198s Corse

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by cyruspower, Aug 20, 2015.

  1. Thought I'd sign up and say hi!

I recently bought an 1198S Corse that's had a few upgrades. Will try and list them all in a bit, but they include lots of carbon including the airbox, lightweight rear sub-frame, full Termi system, shorter velocity stacks, relevant ECU upgrade, front and rear pinions and all the original parts to go back on if ever required....

This is my third bike after my KTM 990 Adventure and Kawasaki GPZ900R A1 (just stripped down and off for a rebuild). I'm loving the Ducati and certainly I've got a big learning curve, but that's all part of the ownership experience I guess!

Hope you like the pics, they range from the day I first saw her, the day I bought her, garage preparation, the day of delivery, a fellow Ducatisti who followed me to the petrol station to check her out on the day of the delivery, a few detail/upgrade shots and some pics during or after my first two ride outs.

Looking forward to being an active member of the forum and meets.

    Cheers

    Sam

  7. Thanks for the welcome messages!

Must say I'm on the fence with the red chain, it looks at bit too busy to me.

  13. Gorgeous bike, welcome the forum....

  14. Ta for the warm welcome and feedback!

Last owner is a Director at Snell's and first owner was from Hampshire, who I got to meet at Snell's the day I was buying it.

What chain should I go for? I'm thinking DID 520 or 525; seems like a 525 makes more sense above 1000cc. Gold or black?

Hadn't seen Burton's Fish 'n Chip crisps for bloody years and I rarely go to that pub. They actually do Picked Onion and Curry Sauce flavour as well now.

I felt like a kid again on my 12th birthday getting my first big bike sat there looking at the Ducati, eating those crisps and having a San Mig! Not that I was drinking much beer at 12. I didn't really start hitting the pubs till I was 13.

  15. Awesome looking bike and you're in good hands with the guys at Snell Performance.

  16. I'm near Richmond by the way, we need to try and get down to the Italia night at the Ace Cafe so perhaps we'll hook up sometime soon.

  17. Snell really were brilliant during the sale, was a chance conversation that I got to buy the bike as it wasn't even in the show room or really for sale at first.

Thinking of heading over to Box/Rykas on Sunday if it stays ok weather wise.

  18. Thought you might like to have a look at these, just gotta get the GPZ bits off to the various places I'm using. Don't want to / can't spend a packet, so it will be more of a make it look decent and go well, rather than an out and out show build. Aiming to get it done by next Spring. (The tank on the GPZ was brush painted with Hammerite!)
