RickyX thanks for your input into this and pointing me at Eulers equation in the first place. What about in the situation where the centre of the spherical rod is not perfectly central with the rod? If the thread is drilled off centre or at a slight angle this could occur, (it's one of the things we will be checking when we get the rod back from MotoWheels.) I note that Corse Dynamics (manufacturing part of Motowheels) has changed their web site and no longer advertise this product for a Ducats ST. Corse Dynamics - Ride Height Rods
I noticed that too Liam, got me a holiday for trying to support you. I followed a guy to Phillip Island a few years ago who was riding two up, with panniers & a top case, the suspension was so loaded the centre stand scrapped at the slightest of lean angles. His bike left PI on a trailer with cracked engine cases, but the ride height rod was unharmed. Go Eulers! Craig
We requested compensation from MotoWheels for paying the customers insurance excess for the other damage done to the bike when the ride height rod failed. They sent us a cheque for just our purchase cost of the ride height rod! We have told them we won't be cashing the cheque as that might signal that we are OK with that response.
