New Levers

Discussion in 'Monster' started by desmobob, Aug 25, 2015.

  1. Hi all,

So I finally got round to getting some new levers, and had a look at fitting them last night.

Took the lever off and tried to remove the cylindrical item, but for the life of me I couldn't get it out to fit it to the new lever.

Anyone help with what to do to get them out?

    Cheers

  2. It's not as easy at it should be! Basically you have to disasemble the old lever by pressing out the pin in the lever hinge. Watch out as there's a spring that pings across the garage, never to be seen again...

The more expensive levers tend to come with the cylindrical nipple\rod already fitted. I bought the 18 quid Chinese ones off ebay and had the same problem. Once fitted they look and work fine.

  3. which model of monster is it

  4. It's an 1100evo, so hydraulics for both sides.

  5. And mine's a 1100s...

  6. So very similar, with hydraulic brake and clutch.

Hope you got the levers fitted ok...

  7. Not yet, been busy with work.

Will have a concerted effort tomorrow and report back...

  8. Well I took off the old ones and had a bit of a look at it.

Solution was quite simple, as they normally are.

Took a hammer and punch to the pivot bush and separated the two parts of the lever, which allowed the barrel shaped master cylinder actuator to be removed and inserted into the new levers.

    They look good too.

If I ever suss this computering malarkey, ill post up some piccies.
