Hi All, Just bought a set of Dainese 1 piece leathers off fleabay and although they are in mint condition, they have really bad musty smell. Any ideas on how to get rid of this? I've had them hanging outside in the fresh air for the last couple of days but it seems as bad as ever :-( Searching t'internet throws up such diverse ideas as rubbing with vinegar, stuffing with newspapers and covering with cat litter! None of those sound particularly appealing or likely to do any good so what do you think? Anyone had the same issue and found a good solution? Cheers.....
With trainers and gym gear the recommendation is to leave in the freezer for a bit, this kills the bacteria causing the smell.
What about leather furniture wipes Mine have a nice smell bit like babies Makes my leather all slippy when you sit on it
I have a few pairs of leathers, some worn more often than not. Being a lazy bugger they live either in the van or the garage. They get a bit musty after a while also. What I do to get them back to normal race leather smell is this 1. put them on with no undercloths 2. put my helmet on too, dark visor best best 3. drink a couple of pints of water 4. go for a run around the block 5. continue running till nice n sweaty, once ball chaff sets in return home 6. Remember you drank two pints of water 7. do a handstand 8. piss whilst doing handstand 9. remove leathers, 10. air dry in lounge homely leathers with a personal aroma sorted.
Now why didn't I think of that... [emoji45]As it happens, the wife is at work tomorrow so I'll give it a go [emoji41]
Ive had the same problem in the past with musty leathers [mildew], bought off Ebay. Cleaning them with isopropyl alcohol, and the inside with liquid Milton helps, but there is always a slight musty smell remaining. To me, once they have been infected with mildew I end up throwing them away,I don't buy clothing from Ebay now.
