The dvt definitely performs better if kept higher revving but I don't think the UK bikes suffer quite as much as the US variants for some reason. If you check out the US forum quite a few mention the flat spot midway through the revs, I didn't on the UK spec bike I test rode so maybe it's an emissions thing and part of their map
Had my 2010 remapped by CJS a while back, first run for a 150hp bike (pre adjustment) was 132hp, post remap its 148. There's a big difference between "at the crank" and "at the rear wheel" and I smile from ear to ear every time I ride it!
The Ducati App for my DVT so far has recorded 141 HP @ 7709 RPM, 35º Lean angle it is a bit juicy according to the app though UK MPG Average Consumption 6 lol
Agree! Still love my 2010 CJS remapped multi, 159bhp at the rear wheel, lots of smiles n miles! I've ridden a DVT and although better in some area,s, still can't bring myself to part with my 2010 [emoji106]

AH! 150 seems real, since the competition bikes were going 155 max. But yes, very hard to get 150 with just that mods, you got a good one
mine ran 150bhp at the wheel on a 2012 touring s Like a knob I sold it and the feller I sold it to has washed it once since ownership.......I saw it again Sunday and it's a sorry state comparatively speaking Still, he owns it now, I'll just have to get another
...ridden the beemer, 3rd gear wheelies off the throttle is impressive...but that's it! There is nothing, nothing else which is at all appealing,build quality, styling or heritage,fact! Just got to wait until the sorted 2016 dvt now before i will part with my lovely Grand T!
Paused the US review at 1:52 in order to look at the hp/torque curves for both bikes. I noticed two significant issues... 1) Why have the BMW curves been 'smoothed out' (a common software correction) when the Ducati hasn't had this applied (just look at how jagged the curves are by comparison) 2) According to the chart, the BMW has over 50 ft-lbs of torque at tickover... AT TICKOVER!!! Ladies & Gentlemen, b***s**t
Well had a chat to a German guy thismorning. I was at Home - Rinomotor's concessionaria Ducati getting a new chain fitted in a rush because mine was leaving rust and metal flakes all over my wheel and foot peg, no matter how much lub I put on. Any hoo back to the story, this German guy arrived on a DVT he said he'd had it for just over 6 weeks and has had nothing but problems with it, he said he took it to his dealer in Germany because the engine light started flashing, then after a few more miles came on permanently. his dealer said you'll have to take it to Home - Rinomotor's concessionaria Ducati and get them to look at it as they don't have the knowhow, so there he was as soon as the mechanic came out to see the light on it didn't come on sods law. He has had to leave it there for them to work out what's wrong he was mad as fook with all the problems, he thought it odd that he was told to ride it to Italy with an engine light showing, but said if it broke I'm sure they would give me my money back. I asked him why he didn't get an XR and he said he loves BMW but thought Ducati had sorted the Multistrada out with this new model but he thinks its worse, when you looked around it there was a huge gap between the head light cowl and the side panels and the seat didn't look in line with the rest of the bike. He said if they fix if and it has one more problem he will ask for his money back and look at an XR1000. On another note I was speaking to a German guy who had just picked up a new XR1000, he was at a local café in Cavalese. he was running it in with his girlfriend on the back. he loved it but said he liked the look of the DVT more but didn't like the ride. I asked him if his hands had gone numb after riding for a while, he said it's not to bad and that they did 400klm this morning and he could still roll a cigarette when he got off, I cant roll a ciggy even if I haven't ridden for weeks. He said he hadn't opened it fully up yet but the bike he test rode was in his words "moto gp fast" and I cant wait to get my service so I can open mine up. He's had no problems with it at all but he is still waiting for the panniers to arrive. I think if Ducati keep bringing bikes out before they sort all the niggles and faults out they going to lose out to newer more reliable manufactures, when your talking the prices these bikes are going for people are going to ignore character and style for reliability and piece of mind.
Hello all Well I returned from Spain last Tuesday after touring the pyrannes and picos mountains on my dvt, and I have to say my mates and I had a real blast, lost of sunny weather and brilliant roads but !!! I had the oil changed and new tyres for the trip, whilst there I kept an eye on the oil levels and to my suprise I had to top it up with nearly a litre of oil, not impressed LAST TIME I USED THAT MUCH OIL WAS ON MY 2 STROKE 30 years ago Also the fork seal busted which leaked oil all over tyre and brake. To add the seat, panels head light etc just don't fit its crap After saving, waiting for my 1st Ducati I'm proper gutted, I do love the bike the looks, the tech, the way it rides and goes but the guys at Ducati have skimpt on quality control its just not right that you pay top bucks for a top brand and get poor quality. Two of the guys were on 14 multi,s one bike fell over whilst on side stand busting lever, pannier and scraps to fairings ect, The other also looked like it was going to go over any time, once home he noticed his fork seal was leaking also Any how the bike with my dealer having warranty work done, I have been and looked at the Beemer xr and I just might take the loss in dosh and go back with the Germans I really love my bike and don't really want to let it go but after nearly 6k miles in 3 months and looking at her every day it really pisses me off on poor fitments and cheesy plastic stuff I know there was there when I bought the bike but excitement of my 1st Ducati probably got the better of me I not slagging the bike or Ducati so please don't judge me, it's just that I'm so disappointed with bad finishings and the oil leak and oil usage. I don't know yet wether I'll change or not but I'm deeply thinking about the xr Watch this space... Krumper
One of the things that i find completly stupid on the DVT is the new seat finishing, you can see a big gap between the seat and the bike, and the dealers say "its normal" , ridiculous, the other models are much better finished.
I really wanna get a DVT but these reliability issues are seriously putting me off. I know BMW are having their own issues but Ducati needs to get a grip on their quality control. Thankfully, if I do bite the bullet then Ducati Coventry will be my local dealer. I've heard good things about their service team.
I don't really understand this debate. In my experience, v-twins and IL4s feel totally different - if you prefer one then you would hardly even consider the other. I have a few bikes and there's not a single IL4 amongst them. Admittedly all of my v-twin Ducatis are quite old. Have the modern Ducati DVT and BMW IL4 engines evolved to the point where they feel similar enough to be real competitors?
