Ditto, on a trip to Assen this year due to speed restrictions 65-70mph produced 55mpg on my Gt model touring mode which has got better with age, better than my mates zx1000!
I used to have a GS1150 that would cost me about 24 quid to fill the tank and the fuel light would appear at about 170 miles with me riding like a twat most of the time on my 12 mile daily commute so didn't really care about fuel economy....... 3 weeks after getting my 2013 Multi I got moved at work and now have a 50 mile a day, 200 mile a week commute ...joy As a result I now watch the fuel consumption with interest, Most of the commute is boring dual carriageway with some bends near home to keep me sane and have some fun. If I keep the commute to 70-80 mph then it returned 53 mpg which I was pleasantly surprised with. Up the speeds if I am running late or just bored shitless then it drops to mid to high 40 mpg. The Multi costs me about 15 quid or less to fill and fuel light comes on about 135-145 miles depending on throttle abuse with 35-40 miles range left according to the onboard computer...... in all honesty its better than I expected and actuall better than the auld lardy 75 bhp GS And that's in touring mode giving me the 150 BHP ..... I don't use urban as the settings are way too soft and haven't got round to fine tuning them yet
Well despite what the computer says, I am getting 45 average with 30 miles of town and 30 miles of motorway. If I nurse the throttle and man up as the remaining miles gets to single digits I can just and I mean just squeeze 180 miles out of the tank. That does tally with the majority of the multis on fuelly too. The multi is going within the next couple of weeks and will be locked up from Saturday and parts stripped back to standard. All going well at work I will get another duke next summer as I have loved owning it, its really going to break my heart letting it go. Not least of all because every time I park it up I always get someone saying how its their dream bike... Nothing majorly exciting replacing it, gone down to an F800ST which is going to save me a bit on fuel and as I have paid it outright I can get on with services myself plus no chain to mess with, just a new belt every year/25k. Be back on team red next year for certain.
Don't understand the economics Moocow unless your selling for more and buying for less, or getting a different Duke model next year ?
Yeah it will be a cheaper Duke - not sure what yet but doesn't have to be hugely practical and I will just buy it outright...not ever getting a PCP again you just don't know how your life is going to change over the term. For an all year biker like myself its a no go. In 3 years my shares mature and I will have a very nice lump sum to play with too as I opted for them instead of a part of my salary package at the new place. That will be bike money for sure So I will give you the "man math" at why I arrived at the decision. This is long. Summary it will cost me: 20 Months on the MTS = £14,000 20 Months on the F800ST = £9500 Multi - 20 months to run on a PCP deal - £175 a month or £3500 over the remaining term. PCP is limited mileage - 6000 a year. I have 10K on there right now, and it has to be under 20825 on return or pay excess of 6p or 12p (dependant on if its over 5000 more than the allowance) I will be doing 2400 miles a month, so in 20 months I will have done approx 58000 (not counting holidays, or the times I will just not be able to ride the bike - snow, ice, service days etc but also not counting any fun journeys/tours at all which will balance it out I expect to be about right). 37175 miles over the limit or to put it another way, excess charge will be £5353 with the VAT. So to keep the multi it will cost me £8853 and several expensive services that have to be done at a garage including minor services/oil changes as it has to have full service record on return with all the stamps or they can come back and say I didn't keep it in good condition and hit me again for more money. Fuel @ 45 MPG, £1.10 a litre approx = £13.34 a day or £5336 over the 20 months, or £14K to put it bluntly for 20 months of riding...700 quid a month :Arghh: Or I can buy a 60,000 mile Multi that is 5 years old for £8k instead of paying the excess charge, I wouldn't want it really, not with those sort of legs on it. Sooo, I have bought a Beemer F800ST, it cost me £4k, 0% on my credit card for 24 months. Based on users data on Fuelly - BMW F800ST Mileage | Fuelly - we are looking at 60MPG = £10 a day, or a third less. Take that with the Multi - Ducati Multistrada 1200S Mileage | Fuelly - 40-43 , I am seeing a genuine 44/45 based on two weeks commute. Add on the £1500 on top of what the Multi has been valued at - £8k - to settle the finance and walk away. So we have £5500 total "purchase price for the replacement bike and walk away from MTS" £4000 in fuel for the same 20 months. Total of £9500 (475 a month all in and I have flexibility to pay more or less as each month goes with it being a 0% on the card for the term) I can also negate the majority of the servicing as I will do all that myself as I have a fully kitted garage and can swing a spanner with the best of them I have left off the selling of parts off the multi as I am likely to just spend that on mods for the ST to be honest.
I have the Tune Boy cruise and tune package with the cat deleted (Leo Vince) and the Remus can on the bike. Ive also dropped the front sprocket down to 14. Ill bounce back and forth between the Termi Full System map, and the Termi Short befaster map (no custom map yet which I believe would be more efficient) and I regularly get 180-190 miles on a 4.2 US Gallon fill. mixed road usage... roughly 45mpg. I imagine 200+ miles per tank on a straight 100mile shot using the cruise function (which I love!)
