1098 Throttle assembly action

  1. Hi guys,
Just joined here (used to be on Ducatisti) and I would like to ask if anyone has managed to get rid of the slack / sloppiness / freeplay (call it what you will) at the end of the throttle on the bar? It's not a massive problem for me, just more of a nuisance as I think it should be nice & smooth like other bikes I have ridden previously.
Can you simply fit some sort of bearing at the end of the throttle tube to remove the freeplay or some other type of support?
Any advice / recommendations would be greatfully accepted.:upyeah:

    Regards,

    Gary

  2. 2004 R1 throttle tube will fit and make it slightly quicker

  3. can you not get the cables adjusted a bit to take up the slack

  4. Sorry if I haven't explained myself clearer, the outer end of the throttle grip is not fully in contact with the clip on if you like so I can move it around (hence the slack - maybe a bad way to describe it) and it also moves along the axis of the clip on too, but this is only a slight movement. It has been like this since new and I believed it is the same for all 1098's.
The action of the throttle could be shorter to achieve full throttle so my next question would be does the R1 assembly fit closely onto the clip on hence sorting out 2 problems in one?

  5. You've lost me.

  6. Yes fit the R1 assembly, sorts both problems for about £20

  7. Thanks for the confirmation Steve,
Obviously I didn't do a very good job with my first post confusing people, must try harder next time.

Mr C, hopefully the next time I ask a question all will be not lost.:upyeah:
