Hi Everybody. Well I got my first Ducati and a Multi and I've had it for nearly 2 mths but I've only manage out a few time out on it. Just been to busy but what I have had is kind of mixed feelings. At first I found the bike hard work riding in town which has been much different from my other bikes, Found myself more often in 1st & 2nd because 3rd got to lumpy but the more times out with it i found a lot of clutch work was needed. Not to sure if this sound typical But what power. I accurately thought I'd bought an "S" instead it just the standard 1200 but is the suspension that makes the only difference in the S from the 1200. The red colour is stunning and over all an very pleased with it, the engineering in many areas is outstanding. Such a quality bike. I also feel I got it at a good price which was £8500 for a 2013 with 4800 miles with the full matching luggage, Paddock stands. My Scorpions will need replacing fairly soon so any advice on best place and prices.
3rd is for 30mph and above on my multi. 2nd and 1st are town gears and yes, in London I use a lot of clutch due to the filtering. The S suspension is good, especially if you get the Ohlins ECU. Magic that thing. I wouldn't worry about not having the S though. Get the suspension set up and enjoy it. I'm on my next set of tyres and went for the new scorpion 2's. Really good tyre.
Commuting in London on the Multi I would think is a lot harder in Edinburgh espesh at peak times. Thanks for the reply. I'm sure I'll get use to it. Yeah the Scorpions are giving me good confidence.
Keep yir chin up and try and enjoyin this weather. Been dyein to get out this week on the bike but am waitin for "go ahead" phone call. Cannae hear the phone on a bike
Definitely need to keep the revs a bit higher to avoid the lumpiness below about 3,300. Mine is a std 1200ABS and with the suspension set up for me alone (never carry a pillion as it spoils the fun), the handling and performance is great. Many Multi riders like the Michelin PR4's which are my favourites and brilliant on wet and cold roads. Also good are the Angel GT. Both are much better than the Scorpions which I found very edgy and had plenty of slides on cold damp roads. Hope you can get out and enjoy the bike while the weather is so good!
I was tempted by the Angel GT's but the scorpion 2's are an evolution of them, designed with more centre tread life (which suits the Multi's power). Always loved Pirelli and have never gotten on with Michelin or Dunlop. Also never had a slide or found myself wanting for feel on the scorps. Different strokes for different folks though. I'd happily do a trackday on these new scorpions.
