1200 DVT High Output Battery Options

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by roundincircles, Oct 12, 2015.

  1. Any one know of a high output battery that fits the DVT........have Googled without success.

Problem is that bike needs jump leads to start if left for a couple of weeks. Battery is fully charged and turns the engine over but will not fire until connected to second battery.

Thus I assume the tiny battery supplied does not have enough get up and go to spark the plugs!

  2. My mate tried a higher output battery on his Honda and other electrical items went wrong within a week. The battery isn't necessarily the issue although they should have designed a bigger one in the first place to help the issue. It's a long standing issue with all Ducati's I'm afraid.
Better cables can only help and seem to make the biggest difference on all the older models.
I was looking at developing a system for the DVT but my help on here who also had an issue has gone quiet - forgot who it was :(
The first kit I can usually do for free for exchange of photo's and measurements of cables, if he pops up on this thread and wishes to progress then we will have a kit soon - if not I can work with someone else - just needs someone who can take the body work off and check / photograph connections and measure. Also look for alternative Earths as sometimes this can be an advantage if the original is silly long.

  3. My bike is due to be stripped down to replace electrical and suspension parts and this may give the opportunity to take measurements. What info is exactly required.....I did email you on your website so you have my e address.

  4. I'll send you details this evening, mainly lead lengths and photo's of connections. Sometimes we need to manufacture special terminal shapes to fit within the constraints of the OEM battery & solenoid covers.
    Who is doing your work?

  5. St Neots Ducati

  6. Sorrey Exige - that was me. Completely forgot! I had a replacement battery fitted under warranty - still cranks like a rheumatic grandma though. Apparently my new battery was making 330 CCA which should be plenty.

  7. I put a motobatt in the 2012 multistrada and it was a country mile better than the stock part. It wasn't as laboured and I also didn't have to worry about leaving it for more than a day.

Reckon that mixed with some new cables from exige will work wonders
