1200 DVT Scratched Dash

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Navara01, Oct 13, 2015.

  1. My TFT dash is really scratched. I don't understand how this issue went through all the development stages and all the pre production test bikes and still made it to customer production motorcycles. I also don't understand why everyone accepts the problem and prepared to buy additional screen protectors. I also have a 2015 new model Yamaha R1 which also has a TFT dash and there's not a single scratch on it and out of the two manufacturers the Ducati is supposed to be the premium brand !!!
Ducati SHOULD be forced to sort this problem out. The Ducati is one expensive motorcycle, all new model motorcycles can have teething issues but there really is no excuse for this problem reaching a production motorcycle. I used to be a development test driver for Land Rover and I can tell you test vehicles get badly abused so I would suggest the dash on the test bikes would have been far worse than any customer has experienced to date. So there really is no excuse... People Power can achieve a great deal !!!

  2. At the price they charge for most motorcycles now, they are all in premium brand territory. I'm sure there is not a lot of difference between what you paid for the R1 and the DVT.

You are correct though. Straight up warranty issue and I am sure the company that make the TFT display will have been informed and changed their materials. Has anybody had theirs swapped for a new display?

  3. My Base model DVT display is the same.

  4. yeah its sad that customers are having to use their own ingenuity to overcome such a flaw.

  5. Bit late when it's already scratched after 5 mins though. Also, you wouldn't expect or take this on a car. For some reason, on bikes, we're expected to just bend over.

  6. My rationale is simple. Likely some kind of fix with new unit for next version. I shall be waiting til then, kicking up fuss and getting replaced under warranty. I have not once used glove or bare hand on it, only using a soft glasses cloth I keep in the tank bag to clean. And when it's off, it's covered in them.

But doesnt affect performance or view so it's a waiting game...

  7. When I picked up my bike I commented on how bad the dash looked. Dealer agreed and had it replaced in a week. I ordered some screen protectors from Germany (Vikuiti) but they don't work well at all. the dash has too many curves and the screen protector is too stiff thus does not adhere properly.

  8. Buy your self a bit of ventureshield, make a card template, cut yo size and jobs a good'un .

  9. According to my dealer ducati UK has advised them that any customer who complain about scratched dash they have to take pictures of the issue and open a case they will be no recall

  11. Recalls are only ever for safety issues.

  12. I got this protector Wayne. I opted for the dearer anti-reflective matte finish.
You're right about the fitting, very tricky but I did manage to fit it accurately without large air bubbles
Used in rain, wiped with gloved hand etc, one scratch shows on the protector... job well done I feel:)

    Maybe I should get a screen protector-protector?

  13. I also got this and it seems ok. Pain in the ass to fit but patience pays dividends.

Good job they ship in packs of three dozen the first one I screwed up so badly.

But 7 quid well spent in my opinion.

  14. But you shouldn't have to.
