An engine. A few from the old Ducatisti site might remember little asbo, my 998 that sadly was stolen. Well, I'm building asbo2. I have a 749R frame and a load of 749R kit parts kicking around, so I thought I'd make something with them. No engine tho. asbo's motor was built by Pete at ProTwins for racing and so is this new one. It's a 999S motor, standard from the crank up, but with flowed heads and 'blueprinted'. I think it's got sand cast cases, but it def has a corse 'box. It's got a slipper clutch on it and it's recently been refreshed with new barrels and pistons. It's not costing me that much really. So, this means that I can start building the new bike for next year. Can't wait! asbo is dead. Long live asbo2!!
Good to see you getting back into the swing of it Jerry. Look forward to seeing Asbo2 at Box Hill. I'll bring my new Multi 12S (+Caroline and cake)!!. Saying farewell to my beloved ST4S next week:frown:
Thanks.chaps! Probably track only this one, but it will go out regularly. Yup, this was from Jim, as was my last one.
Sure you will chuck the right bits at it. Admire the way you and a few other spend so much time and effort with these things...I quite fancied a bared SS a little like Monty's old one, Ohlins, proper race prepared job, but have neither the patience of the money (mostly) or the skill to do it myself. Where do you track these things down from? Wrecked 748 is the same, manages to find odd corse and special parts from what seems thin air! lol Is this the general rebuild of the stable? Did you ever get any news of the other bikes?
Another one that just wishes corse parts in to existence is Kato!! Jerry will you build this one yourself?
Thanks chaps! Yes, I will be doing this one myself. Haven't picked up the engine yet, but I've ordered some interesting supports that bolt onto the engine cases and support the whole bike as it's being built. They have wheels attached (to the bottom) that enable the bike to be moved as it's being built. Pics to follow. The plan is to bolt it all together, then give it to John Hackett to tune and check over : ) The bits have been collected over a couple of years. I bought some parts as they became available and got a load with the race bike. Got a factory loom, ECU, dash, pegs, 749R tank (also from Jim, from the same bike as it happens) and an NCR titanium subframe. Now that is REALLY pretty! Race shock, yokes etc. I'll need to replace the alternator cover so I can add a second timing pickup, but I think I have a spare somewhere. And brand new kit timing gear that I got with a new set of cams I bought for the race bike. It's going to be largely a kit 749R with a 999 motor. Similar power, but less bonkers. Can't wait to get started!
That NCR stuff is porn, the ti frames they had at Assen this year for 848 were art and weight almost nothing
yes, it's lovely! The guy who ran the race team after Ducati Corse is the son of the C in NCR. It's possible that it came directly from the team. Can't see myself putting anything else NCR on the bike cos it's track only, but that subframe weighs nothing and looks like it would break the track if the bike went down : )
Jerry Nog uses them. We had my entire monster supported off it. I so want one from him as it makes rebuilding engine and bike in general so easy.
Lucaz, let me use mine, then you can have them when you want. I should be getting a good deal - these are being made by a contact and I'm supposed to be getting the prototypes.
