I'm happy with mine, not the quietest helmet I've owned but best looking (laurell design), I think I'll be going shoeii again next as found my old XR-1100 more comfortable and it was cheaper, and plus those ear cut outs!!! :grimacing:
Yeah I've got one. In pearl white. I've only ever used Arai, both car and bike lids. Would +1 the above, as seemingly always with Arai, little bit noisy. But I'm sure most wear plugs as I do..
It's not nice to think about damaging a good lid, but it's money well spent if it does it's job. I have an Arai Quatum ST (wow price has dropped) I've have had it a few years, tried it out first time when I rode the Duke. It's a nice lid for those sunny days on a shiny bike. I suspect there is a quality difference when you spend more. I've had cheaper lids as spares and they don't fit the same due to padding and perhaps the material used to make the shell might be different? My Arai feels quite light.
Ant thoughts on sena's new to be released "smart helmet"? No release date or price as yet, though it looks like it's going to be after Christmas..
As long as it is a good quality item, meeting the right standards, I think that fit and comfort, together with vision (in the sense of field of view, not misting up too badly, etc) are important safety aspects. I really don't think it's possible to say that any one brand is "safest". AGV are certainly good enough (not that I have one), as Guy Martin has proved at least twice: Guy Martin says he got off 'lightly' thanks to his safety equipment -Isle of Man TT Official Website Guy Martin Latest: Recovering from injury, back at work, but racing plans on hold | MCN
I've got two (swap helmets instead of visors). Same size but one feels slightly bigger than the other. Nice, but more noisey than my old Shoei
I tend to agree. I like to believe that once in this bracket of lid chances of walking away after an off will be the same in Shark, AGV, Arai, etc. Just the Chaser V made the AGV feel like the interior was made from cardboard. Need another trip out.
I've got the Arai Chaser V in Ducati Corse colourscheme. It's noisier than my previous Arai Astro. The visor (still the annoying Arai system for removal) is a slightly different shape, which means better peripheral vision, but I do find if I ride with it slightly open for fresh air/not steaming up my glasses when riding in wet conditions, the rain finds its way onto the inside more than it ever did with the Astro. The vents definitely let through more airflow when open compared with the Astro.
Ah, I put it down to luck... I had one, then got another free when I bought the 848. I hate the way Arai visors fit (much prefer shoei) so to stop getting stressed swapping them; I have one with a clear visor fitted and one with a heavy tint...
Got the Chaser V and it's a great hat. Very comfy but I agree with the above about noise / visor etc. The best price for them was Gear Change in Scunthorpe, they were brilliant. I also +1 for the AGV range, having tried a K3SV, a Corsa and a Pista they are comfy and (IMO) the best looking hats presently available. Visor changes are a snap also.
